most definitely.  people claim to be open minded in our area...until something happens then its always blamed on one race or another. sad to admit to but true

I think racism is a condition that's inescapable, we experience racism  in some form and its not as prevalent as the south.... because its the norm.

It's not just the south. Racism is prevalent all over the country, and the world. It's not always a black/white issue. There are areas where Hispanics are discriminated against and others where it may be Asians, Native Americans, Middle Easterners or whatever. There are always going to be people that hate those that are different from them whether it be physical appearance or religion or sexuality

Absolutely.  I would truly like to hear people's premises behind being racist.  Did they learn it from their parents, tv, friends, history.  There's really no reason to be racist...it's just an ignorant and selfish way to think.  You don't have to like anyone but at least understand that people are different and respect others ethnic/racial origin.

"We're rednecks, rednecks
And we don't know our *bleep* from a hole in the ground
We're rednecks, we're rednecks
And we're keeping the niggers down

Now your northern *bleep*'s a Negro
You see he's got his dignity
Down here we're too ignorant to realize
That the North has set the *bleep* free

Yes he's free to be put in a cage
In Harlem in New York City
And he's free to be put in a cage on the South-Side of Chicago
And the West-Side
And he's free to be put in a cage in Hough in Cleveland
And he's free to be put in a cage in East St. Louis
And he's free to be put in a cage in Fillmore in San Francisco
And he's free to be put in a cage in Roxbury in Boston
They're gatherin' 'em up from miles around
Keepin' the niggers down"

On an aside, I know there's people in my family that are racist, and not only to blacks. It makes me flinch when they make comments, now that I'm old enough to know that they aren't just jokes in poor taste. Kinda want to rage, but words are words and family is family.
One person acts stupid and a whole town is castigated and shunned in the eyes of some of my family. Towns branded where everyone is a *bleep* or trash or a drug addict. Or if someone takes a job from them.
I... really don't know. A lot of them talk about worthless niggers and they're the ones that work in St. Louis and work for and with black people. My sister-in-law once said she didn't know why black people moved down here, rather than staying away, in the other cities, when they "know" they aren't wanted down here and it'd just be easier and nicer not to be here.
A lot of them will talk about how the biggest racists are black people to white people. I think trying to justify themselves, maybe they know what they're saying isn't right? But I have my doubts there.

I think the most recent was a stupid Facebook post, saying "If you voted for Obama to prove you aren't racist, vote against him now to prove you aren't stupid".
Rage.  :P ::)

I remember seeing a post about Ken - apparently they'd had some contest to find a "real life version". The winner happened to be black and I made the mistake of reading some of the comments on the Yahoo article. Talk about losing faith in humanity. Let's just say I had to go look at lots of pictures of kittens and weep.  :crybaby2:  :bs:

I hope for the future, but find it's often hard being in the present.

I'm really talking about black and white... I really don't care about the rest of the world that's their business... I think in the south ur raised up that way and that's just how it is I also think that blacks and whites are two totally different life styles and that has slot to do with it... People get their feelings hurt way too bad also... My opinion is black people mostly there is an exception are raised to believe they have to have a certain swagger and also that being a successful business man is uncool in their race... I think if that would change it would helP alot... I def am a lil racist and guess that'd just how I feel... But on that note also seeing a redneck ridin around with a rebel flag loud pipes and just ignorant is also stupid... Black people are raised to believe white people are going to try to bring them down white people are raised to believe blacks are trouble and lazy... 70% of people in jail are black... And give blacks a bad name... Go out and be successful and that will put a end to the whole thing... Now don't start raising hell bout what I'm saying... I own a paunchy business and my buddy and business  partner is black his name is mike Ross and he was drafted by the rays in 07... Look it up... I'm not racist against blacks... I just don't like drug dealers which in the us is predominantly black and also think people that are over proud an ignorant Re idiots too I e rednecks that's just my opinion

I think there is racism every where. And I wish we would all just get over it and move on. We are all people with the same emotions, struggles, accomplishments...unfortunately it's probably here to stay.

The politically correct assumption is that only whites can be racist, but that is not true. Nowadays there is more discrimination against whites than blacks. There is a lot of racism in politics also, such as people voting for Obama just because he's black, and not because they agree with his policies. Apparently he would not have won the election if he had been white.

Racism is still going strong & will continue.I don't think it will ever be eradicated. It's 21st century& we still can't get past color, ethnic backgrounds, race.People who can't rise above this ignorance, should know that u can't be racist against others.A white person who's racist against other cultures,races,b/c they aren't white should know that they themselves aren't white.People have been mixing &having interational marriages/coupling for years.U can't say you're a certain race or a pure anything. We are all mutts &like it or not we'll continue to mix.I recall reading about a Southern lady who was so proud of her pure white background. She pranced around w/this racist pride like it was a badge. When her parents passed, she was an only child, &would inherit a fortune. When she went to collect  she finds out that she's not the only 1 to benefit. She found out she had a faternal  twin sister &was separated after birth. The woman standing b4 her was a light skinned black woman. While she had the light brown straight hair, brown-gray eyes &a golden tan,her twin, had curly/wavy dark brown-black hair,brown-black eyes &a dark tanned
skin.Everything else was similar, same height, same age, same size, same b-day,same Mom & Dad.Her mom was infertal so her dad impregnated their negro maid.Surprise, they had twins one clearly looked like a white child the other was clearly black. His wife was happy to have a daughter but the black sister was taken way w/the mother somewhere faraway & paid off. This southern lady w/this racial pride couldn't believe this black women is her sister, much less her faternal twin! A blood test later confirmed the facts. She could not take the fact that there was negro blood running in her veins! She can't believe her own father tainted her pure white blood line by messing with the help! She was so disgusted that she took her own life. She would save her race by not passing the tainted genes on. Only 1 problem she didn't think of getting rid of her negro twin. Guess who got the entire inheritance? LoL! I can't understand why, fuss about what race we come from. Don't these racist folk know that we all came from a little black woman in Africa scientists dubbed EVE? Which means Eve is everyone's great,great,great,great.....& several greats Grandmother! Which means whatever color or race you come from, in the beginning, we all came from EVE. Which means we all are black & negro genetically. So racist people get over it!
