What has happened to the simple words: "please" and "Thank You". I do not hear those words that often nowadays? Maybe if we start with those simple everyday words, the usual rudeness in blogs, twitters, FB, etc will slowly disappear? Here's hoping...................

The reason we don't hear those words very often is people doesn't care anymore.  I make it a point to say please and thank you, yes mam and no mam yes sir & no sir. I agree with you whole heartly.

You can respect someones opinion with out believing in what they say.

All I can do here is to quote Thomas Jefferson:  "I may not agree with what you say or do, but I will defend to the death your right to say and do it."

Actually, that was written by Beatrice Hall in a book about Voltaire.

NTL, great quote.

I don't think you should respect everyone's opinion.

Some people think the earth is flat or 6,000 years old. I'm supposed to respect that?

Respect the person, they're entitled to their beliefs.  You don't have to share their beliefs.  :peace:

Has anyone noticed in movies and some TV shows at how rude and indifferent people are to each other?

Some people pick up the actions off of TV characters and think that's the way their supposed to be.

Yes, life is not a sitcom.  Sitcoms can be entertaining, but we need to be smart enough to not imitate them.

We all need to realize that everything we say and do effects other people.  It's selfish to think we don't.  It's like the butterfly effect.  One person says something insensitive to another person and negatively changes their mood.  Now their mood is altered and they do or say things that effect others.  On and on it goes, like ripples in a pond.  Somewhere down the chain someone could get hurt or cause an accident because they were distracted thinking about it.  We are not alone.   :peace:

Rudeness seems to be a way of life for some people.  Maybe it is their way of getting attention?   :dontknow:

Sad, but all to true.

My daughter says its rednecks that are like that. When they are out in public. They like to spit all over any parking lot they are in. They look at people and laugh at them and say rude things. You have to think. Did they lose their soul somewhere? These days I hear we are to have compassion for them. As they are disconnected from the God force transcendent nature of love.

some people by nature are just rude, and it wouldnt matter what the topic is about, they'd still be that way....so i take it with a grain of salt.
