Why do you celebrate Christmas?

I'm hoping to find some honest answers as to why you celebrate Christmas.

Then, you can go ahead and write why you think other people celebrate Christmas.

I have always celebrated Christmas as a tradition with Santa, gifts, dinners, gatherings.  I now realize that celebrating Christ, hence "Christ"mas is the real reason to celebrate.  Giving gifts is a symbol of the gifts given to the Christ child and more importantly the gift He gave us on the cross.  It has a lot more meaning as an adult and I hope to instill that into my kids.  Whether one believes or not, the spirit of Christmas is of love, compassion, giving, and concern for others, just as Christ does for us.  Merry "Christ"mas!

Christmas is the celebration of the day that Our Awesome God entered our world in order to institute the New Covenant to reconcile mankind to God after Adam's fall.  :notworthy:

Actually, because it's a habit.  I hate shopping for it, I hate preparing for it,  I hate that it costs so much and doesn't last long.  BUT  the smiles on the little kids faces sure makes up for all. :D

I'm not doing Xmas anymore. I've been disgusted with the commercialization of it for many years and finally I've decided to just stop it. If you think Jesus was born on Dec. 25th, I think you need to do a bit of research. Shepherds would not be in the fields in the middle of winter.

honestly, i celebrate it because i grew up with the
tradition of celebrating it. my parents were BIG into
christmas... from the tree, baking cookies, presents,
etc. they really made it special for my brother and i,
so i can't help but get excited when it rolls around
every year. we romanticize the past, and i definitely
do with christmas!

the season just makes me happy.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

For some reason your response made me smile. Not that I can relate or anything, but it just did....

the birth of Jesus is the main reason even though seems like it has been turned into a day for making money for retailers.

the season for celebrating the birth of our Lord. Also is a big family time and with the large family I have, we rarely get together more than twice a year, so it is reason to celebrate family.
