If I don't make it up then I don't have a smooth surface to fold the clothes.  Also, I would never find the dogs because they would always be hiding under the covers.

I'm right there with you sister!     :notworthy:

Easy for me as I live alone - only time I make the bed is when I change the sheets, or I have company coming over (sometimes not even the company - I may just shut the bedroom door  ;D ).  Most times when I need to use the bed, I just throw up the covers to get the flat surface for putting clothes away, but rarely actually neatly make the bed.

Pretty much, the only time I make the bed is when I wash the sheets and blankets.  Which is usually once a month.

I agree.  I never make the bed unless I just cleaned sheets or if I have company.

It's not a waste of time.  Supposedly your brain interprets an unmade bed as "chaos" that can translate into other areas of your life as well.  I personally think it looks better and is cleaner to make the bed; it takes just 2 seconds for me (simply pull the covers over the pillows) because the bottom of the bedding stays tucked in.

i never, ever do it in the morning after i wake up!
but when i'm doing some chores anyway (in the
evening or on my days off) i go ahead and make it.
it makes the room feel tidier and bigger. i love the
feeling of getting into a made bed with a good book.

I never used to make the bed, but then something changed, not sure what. I used to think, like most here apparently, that making the bed was a waste of time. Now, I enjoy getting into a nicely made bed, I enjoy not having a "mess" in my bedroom, I enjoy having a bed I can sit on or lay things on, and mostly I enjoy not having all the itsy bitsy pieces of stuff that always got in there when it wasn't made!

I've been saying that for years..........lol.
I make the bed if I have company coming over....don't know why, they don't see my room.

I make my bed everyday.  It's the first thing I do when I get out of the bed.  It takes two seconds.  I sleep in the same spot and I sleep by myself so it's not a big production to make it.  I make it because it makes your room look cleaner and I hate clutter and mess so that's why my bed is made.  I'm not a neat freak but I do keep my house clean because I'd be embarrassed if someone came into my house and my house is a mess and making the bed is part of keeping the house clean.  If I was in someone's house that didn't have their bed made I'd tend to think they weren't clean especially if the rest of their house was a mess too.

I make my bed, my sons bed, and my daughter makes her bed.  I think it makes the room look neater, I'm not a neat freak, but it only takes a few minutes to do all 4 beds and I don't like a messy house.

I have to agree. I don't waste time on bed making.

Before I retired that bed was made every morning before I left for work. It somehow seemed important. Now, It doesn't matter so much. I think I have learned to focus on things that matter more--reading a good book, spending time in the garden, playing with my grand sons. It usually gets made at some point in the day when I am doing general housework. I love to leave it unmade on mornings when I can have the windows open and freshen things up.
Why am I dwelling on this question??
