LOTR by astronomical distances.  Far superior to HP, and Twilight is dreck.  There are fully realized languages in LOTR for pete's sake.

The Lord of The Rings!  J.R.R. Tolkien was ahead of his time!

Protagonists:
Frodo Baggins, a well-to-do hobbit from the Shire, who inherits the One Ring from Bilbo. Frodo is responsible for destroying the Ring in the fire of Mount Doom.
Samwise Gamgee, gardener for the Bagginses, who accompanies Frodo on the quest to destroy the Ring.
Meriadoc Brandybuck, or Merry, Frodo's cousin and companion in the Fellowship.
Peregrin Took, Pip or Pippin, Frodo's cousin and companion in the Fellowship.
Gandalf, a wizard, who aids Frodo in his quest.
Aragorn, descendant of Isildur and rightful heir to the thrones of Arnor and Gondor, the king who returns.
Legolas, an elf prince, who aids Frodo and the Fellowship. Son of King Thranduil of Mirkwood and friend of the dwarf Gimli.
Gimli, son of Glóin, a dwarf included in the Fellowship.
Denethor, ruling Steward of Gondor and Lord of Minas Tirith. Also the friend of elves
Boromir, the eldest son of Denethor and member of the Fellowship. He tries to take the ring from Frodo by force. Later got killed by many orc arrows.
Faramir, younger brother of Boromir and not favoured by Denethor. He is given the same choice as his brother Boromir: take the ring by force or let Frodo continue his quest.
 Théoden, King of Rohan.
Éomer, the 3rd Marshall of the Mark, Théoden's nephew. Later King of Rohan after Theoden's death.
Éowyn, sister of Eomer, who disguises herself as a male warrior named Dernhelm to fight beside Théoden.
Tom Bombadil, a forest dweller of great power and wisdom. The only character not affected by the ring of power and who seeks no unnatural dominion over any other living creature.
Treebeard, an Ent, who rescues Meriadoc and Pippin from orcs and who helps to turn the tide of battle.

Antagonists:
Sauron, the Dark Lord and titular Lord of the Rings, a fallen maia who helped the Elves forge the Rings of Power long ago. He forged the One Ring in secret to control all the other Rings of Power.
The Nazgûl or Ringwraiths, nine servants of Sauron. Men of old, they were enslaved to the One Ring through the Rings of Power.
The Witch-king of Angmar, the Lord of the Nazgûl, and Sauron's most powerful servant, who commands Sauron's army.
Saruman, a corrupted wizard who seeks the One Ring for himself.
Gríma Wormtongue, a servant of Saruman, a go-between from Saruman to Théoden who poisons Théodens perceptions with well placed "advice".
Gollum (named Sméagol in earlier life), who formerly possessed the One Ring, which turned him to evil and gave him unnaturally long life.
Have a wonderful day!

Lord of the Rings is amazing. Harry Potter is pretty good. Twilight is... well, I've read it. I hate myself afterwards, but i refused to make fun of it until i had read it, so i did. It's just awful. It's like well written Anne Rice fan fiction. That's the best compliment i can give it.

... Not to be hatin on Anne Rice or anything.

I didn't read the lord of the rings or twilight but I'm a big harry potter book fan!
I'd love to read TLOTR some day but not interested in Twilight.

Books I would vote for Harry Potter, Twilight, the LOTR.  Movies definitely LOTR, Harry Potter, then Twilight.

I'd say LOTR is a classic and naturally comes first,Harry Potter next and Twilight I really couldn't get into.

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

I love literature, especially fantasy/sci-fi. I would have to say that it is a toss up b/n Harry and Frodo. I couldn't get past the first page of the first book of twilight.

I'm a scifi person. I tolerate lord of the rings, and I almost agree with you on twilight. I couldn't even touch it.
I like the come excuse and rebuttal of:
"Keep in mind, its a children's book."
"Being a children's book is no excuse for sucking."

I know someone who likes them and he gave me my best reason ever: Its teenage sex, stalking, vapiric tendancies, murder and satanic rituals in one series---everything you want your kids to learn.

Lord of the Rings!!!! It's a classic. I read the books when I was a kid then again after the movies came out. Peter Jackson did a awesome job on the movies. I can't get into Harry Potter or Twilight.
