What are some good exercises for improving posture?
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:32:27 pm »
I tend to me sitting down at a desk or computer a lot and it has caused me to "slouch" more. When I stand or sit up straight I have some back pain. What exercises should I do to strengthen my postural muscles? Without it being painful.
Thanks.

The key to good posture is having a good core (both abs and back muscles).  In addition, having good flexibility is important to posture.  I consider myself to generally have poor posture and consequently need to do a lot of lower back stretching to help improve posture.  Do lower back exercises and lower abs exercises such as "leg lifts" and crunches.  Hope this helps.

When I was in music school, my teacher slapped my back whenever I slouched. I never slouch anymore :P Maybe you should get someone to slap your back every time you slouch.
