I was googling someone and came across this site.  www.spokeo.com.

Interesting site.  Entered my name to see what would come up.  Most of the info on mine is matter of public record, so no big deal.  Some of the hobby stuff listed looked like it may have come from some survey preference thing or maybe a social network thing.  Wonder if this site has any association with social network that may be feeding some of that info.  I can say it wasn't 100% accurate with my info.

I checked it out.  Kind of neat.  I listed my husband's name.  It said he was a female and his zodiac was Virgo.  Wrong.  Wrong.

Wow this site is something scary. I entered my name and they have both of the addresses I have lived in for the past 28 years. They also have my parents and siblings names. Is information that is easily accessible but is still scary to know that anyone can look this information up just with your name.

I entered my name as well and found that most of the information was correct. Some of it was a stetch. My religion was wrong. Most of it is a matter of public record but I agree it is a little creepy when it is all starring you in the face.

That site is like 5 years old. There are many sites just like it. They get all your info from all the public sites that you have supplied any of your information to.

I agree this is all public record information, not all is correct that I saw either.

It said my house is worth $400,000, I was married and protestant. I think the only thing right was my age and sign. It was interesting anyway. I entered my son and Mother, too. My mother didn't come up but my son's info was about the same as mine as far as accuracy.

Most records are kept on computers nowadays. Your employer has your social security number and when you apply for another job your previous employer shares information about your performance and has to validate certain things about you. The post office knows every legal address. If the police want to find you and you have been using a credit card, cell phone, or have been on camera anywhere, they are able to access that information if you are suspected of a crime. I can go on but you get the point. If someone REALLY wanted to find you, they could if they were that good. The information on that website isn't all that private. If you are in the phone book then that is pretty much the same thing.

Wow! Really freaky....didn't have all of my info correct either though, but still. I'm not sure that I agree that a lot of that is "Public" info....like hobbies & interests....I don't even have that kind of stuff on Facebook, so how would they know??
