After last night I can understand why some restaurants are banning children.  My husband and I were trying to enjoy a nice steak dinner last night but our dining experience was rather ruined by a sqealing child.  This child was about 1 1/2 years old and squealed at the top of his lungs during our whole meal.  He would quiet down as long as his parents were feeding him but they seemed to preoccupied with stuffing their own face.  It didn't seem to phase them a bit during his outbursts.  I would have asked for another table but the restaurant was busy.  We had to wait for the table we got.
Have a wonderful day!

I guess I was a terrible child to bring to restaurants... Years later my mom told me how their meals tended to last twice as long as it should've...  If I got into one of those moods, the only thing they could do was take me out to the car while the other parent finished their meal, then switch places so the other could eat. They learned very quickly to just get a baby sitter for me instead of hoping that I'd stay calm at the restaurant.

If we took our children to a restaurant and they started whining or misbehaving, they were quickly escorted out of the restaurant by one of us.  Screaming children can spoil the meal for a lot of the customers.

before i had kids i would always see parents struggle trying to deal with their screaming child in a public place. others would usually give them mean look. now that i have kids of my own, i can now understand what those parents were going through. my daughter started to throw a crying fit while i was at the mall with my mom. we were on one side of the mall and our car was park on the other side. she cried the whole way through the mall. it felt embarrassing with everyone staring at us.

I don't have any children but that is part of having children.  They are going to through fits and it is up to the parents to teach them that is wrong.  Taking out to the car and getting it under control is good or even to the restroom.  But I totally disagree about banning them.  Families need to get out with there children how is a child supose to learn if they are banned. I don't care what other would think if I had a child who was doing that I would try to get under control but children are a blessing not a curse, how did you learn when you were a child? Just have patience and try to understand.

When my childrend did that, one or both, we would take the kids out of the restaurant while the other finished dinner with the other child or alone. We took turns. Soon both my little girls learned if they wanted desert etc. they minded and all was fine. But for awhile it was a struggle. We did not let the other patrons suffer because of our screaming children. This is what I don't understand about other parents. They seem to have no regard for others as this is really a simple and easy solution. These pareents are selfish selfcentered idiots. I do not blame the children, I blame the lazzy assed parents.  Just my thought.

Amen. When my son was little I remember  taking  him to a restaurant. If he started crying I would take him outside until he calmed down. It wasn't right to   subject the other patrons to my sons tantrum. He learned if he wanted to stay he had to behave.

As a kid, I cannot remember throwing a tantrum so it probably never happened. My mother would not have tolerated nonsense.

I've blog about this issue many times in the past about creating a child free restaurants. When my husband was alive we had gone to restaurant fancy & nice not a place for children. While we were trying to eat, 3 tables there were 2 brats screaming at the top of their lungs. Nether of the women with them did anything. I kept on giving them the mean glare each chance I got throughout the dinner. I wanted to complain so much to the manager but the waiter just gave me a # to call & complain. When they got up to leave & the fat elephant one screeched "this is family restaurant." My husband fired back & said ya, this is a family restaurant but it is understood that parents should know how to control their kids in a public place.I didn't come here to listen to your kids scream while I'm trying to enjoy my dinner! You're the reason why people decide to get abortions or purposely get fixed in order to save the world & not have kids. If you can't control your brats next time hire a baby sitter you stupid obese tub of lard....I can't write the rest....LoL..

It's not the kids fault it's the parents that don't do anything & pretend they don't have kids with them. My little nieces are no angels all the time in public but when they start, my brother or sister in law jumps into action & takes the kid out. Parents today tend to let their kids run free too much & don't punish them when needed. They let them get away with too much.Me, growing up, before it was considered child abuse to punish you kids in public;from the cradle we understood the rules. When we start acting up in public, all dad has to do, is give us the LOOK! And all around there is silence.  :binkybaby: Today, the baby holds the rod/belt over the parents. Powerless & so Sad. :BangHead:

Some children are just way to young to be brought to certain places  If it's Mcdonalds that's a little more par for the course and you might expect that but if you are paying for good money for a certain experience you don't want anything to disrupt that.  Yes children need to learn and be taught but there is a time and place for everything.

  Thank you.  I don't understand either.  Why can't they get it to go once little jr sob becomes possessed instead of inflicting their spawn on everyone else?  I guess they figure if I am miserable then everyone else around me should be miserable too.

I have to honestly say.. NONE of my three girls ever acted like this.. nor did any of my children I had in my daycare.
I would like to know what in the world these parents these days... are thinking!!???
Tonight I was in Walmart... and this woman was looking at the cat food.. and her 3 young children were RUNNING up and down the main aisle squeezing squeaky toys!!!! OMGosh!!!! I wanted to scream.  It was so bad I could NOT concentrate on finding a hairball cat treat.
I can NOT believe how some of these parents do NOT have control over their dang kids!!!!
There is NO way I would EVER allow my children to act that way.

My Dad had 6 kids; you know what he did?  He didn't go to "nice" restaurants till we were old enough to know how to behave in public.

People don't control their kids, in part because some are afraid to, in fear of being accused of "abuse", and in part because some just don't care how they behave in public.  A lot seem to not realize that parenting requires actually being a "parent".

(Example of "abuse":  when my sister and I were about 5-6 years old, we went to some fast food place, and my Dad popped my sister's butt once because she was going around asking other patrons if she could have their fries; some nitwit called the cops on him for "abuse".  And that was back in the late 80s!  Fortunately the other customers stood up for my Dad, and the cops ended up lecturing my sister ;D  Unfortunately that's not likely to happen today.)

If people want to go out to a restaurant without hearing kids cry they have that right .  There will be restaurants that kids will be able to go,but I should not have to be there.  I do have kids and if they can not behave, I will get a babysitter.   It is nice for parents to think about the other customer in the restaurant as well.

children are children and sometimes they will behave as children, that's why people should take their kids to family restaurants, and get a babysitter when they are not...but, that works both ways..if you can't stand being around noisy, cranky, or otherwise children acting like children, don't go to family style restaurants.  actually, personally, i'd rather be in a food establishment with a bunch of kids than at a bar with rude, obnoxious, filthy mouthed, drunk 20 year olds. me and my boyfriend can't go and have a nice drink and a dance without being around these "grown up" idiots, so we don't do it anymore.  it takes all kinds to make the world go round!!!
