FLU SHOT
« on: October 17, 2011, 07:26:07 am »
Why is  everyone encouraged to get the flu shot when it is "dangerous" to one's health? Health advocates, trusted doctors, such as Dr Mercola, warn against it.

I got mine last week.  I get one every year.  It's never made me sick...I read in the paper that the shot can't make you sick.

I've only gotten two flu shots in the past several years and I was sicker than a dog after getting them both so I haven't gotten one since.  Last winter season, I mananged to catch every virus (cold & flu) coming & going at least once (some repeated) and I still don't want a flu shot because what's the difference?  If I'll get that sick after having a $30 flu shot vs. getting sick without a shot...I'd rather just be sick and save the $30.

I have never gotten one and don't plan on it either. I'll take my chances and let my body fight it off.

I got one when my uncle had major problems and was warned that if he got the flu he might die - so we all got it to help prevent him from getting it.  Of course, that year I got the flu anyway!

I have a friend whose hubby works at one of the local hospitals.  He said he will never get a flu shot and those that work with him have refused flu shots as well.  (I had thought they were required when one works at a hospital...???)  If the shots are so great then it's kind of ironic that even those that work in the hospitals don't want them.

I have only a Flu shot once in my life.  I got it about 20 years ago.  I had some kind of reaction to it.  Felted like I was getting the flu ALL winter long,  but didn't ever get the flu.  I would rather be sick for a week, that fell like I was getting something for months.

Last time I got the flu shot I was in high school, and I so remember it hurting for days afterwards.  I think it's highly recommended for certain individuals  Especially those in the medical field or teachers because of the constant expose to the flu.  However, I feel that it's over rated for the general population.

I have gotten 'leary' of flu shots. It is very strange to my of have much advertising there is promoting them. They are actually offered FREE by so many agencies and health insurances that it is suspicious. Have you noticed they push this preventive measure and pay for it, yet simple preventive items such as vitamins are not?
