I was in health care before I retired and it was required every year. I had no ill effect from them and never got really sick. I continued after I retired until last year when I kept meaning to but never got there. The vaccine this year (it changes every year) supposedly contains anti-swine flu ingredient along with others. I am "meaning to" get to the Dr. office.

I have only had a flu shot once.  ??? I guess as I get older I should get one every year.  :dontknow: I live in the south and we have much milder winters. 8) I don't frequent many public places everyday, and I carry hand sanitizer. I do believe that children and the elderly should get them every year.

They say that the elderly have a lower to resistance to fighting off illness...I don't know how true that is. My Mom is 72 and runs circles around me,  she also get a flu shot every year....better safe than sorry, as she says, you might not get the flu, or you might, but if you do, it won't be as severe. and won't last as long.

I used to work for MHMR and we were required to have all kinds of vaccines, including that Heptac B series(sp?) (Hepatitis B vaccine). Though I never got Hepatitis, any time I have lab work done I show positive for Hepatitis and I have to tell them that I had the vaccine.....weird

If you don't make it to the Dr office I have seen signs in windows all over the place offering the vaccine...and for FREE...
I always wanted to be someone....
I should have been more specific...

I have mixed feelings about the flu shot. I seem to get sicker when I get one. I was recently in the hospital with pneumonia and decided no matter what I had better get one. Course the doctor highly recommended it too. I also got a pneumonia shot. I hope I am not sick all winter. I do know a lot of people who swear by the flu shots.

I can't decide what to do.  I get them free as a state employee but have not had the flu for several years without taking the shot

Yes, I have 4 little ones who manage to catch everything every year.  When we do vaccinate we seem to pass the big yuck of the flu.  Thanks flu shot.

Not for me. Everytime I've had one it makes me real sick so I don't anymore. Usually you find out the vaccine they have out is for a different flu than what is going around anyway.

I have only gotten a flu shot a few times, the last being about 3 years ago. I never got sick from it, but my sister is in health care and has to get one every year and always feels somewhat, if not alot, ill from it. I guess I can take it or leave it, however my (grown) children refuse to get one, and when the H1N1 first came around I was so worried one of them would get it. But so far, they have stayed  away from it  :)  They are in their 20's (3 of them) and say they don't want that crap in their bodies. Not sure if I will get one this year or not.

I got mine last week. I try to get one every year and they seem to help. I can't afford to get sick. At least when I do get sick after a shot the symptoms are much less severe.
