Maybe because they think people are stupid and are going to forget there's another holiday? Who knows, it's irritating though. Over here it's like they skip over Thanksgiving completely. I was seeing Halloween stuff at the end of August.

Kinda dumb if you ask me because most people don't even put up their tree until after Thanksgiving. I was in the dollar store yesterday and they have Halloween and Christmas stuff all on the same aisle....Halloween on one side, Christmas on the other.  :dontknow:

It's all about the money with these merchants. They do it more and more earlier to "lengthen" the Christmas giving season. To me it's vulgar and very greedy to start hawking Christmas wares way before it's time. It makes me sick to see Christmas decorations a month before Halloween.

Two years ago, I decided to not buy into the hype and no longer buy Christmas presents. Christmas is not about how much more you can go into debt. The three wise men did not bring gifts to the Christ child on the night he was born, but almost 2 years afterward. Read your Bible and study it out. Where in the world did gift giving come from? Just like Halloween is nothing but a ploy to sell candy.

In this economy, it makes people feel bad with no jobs and no money to spend for these holidays. Since when is it necessity to buy presents for everyone? Many people don't look forward to Christmas for the very reason of the burden on the finances. Since when did we get so greedy and selfish that we expect presents and lots of them. You can talk about the kids all you want and how it's nice to buy for them, but honestly...........do kids today really need more toys and junk? Good Will toward men means helping someone less fortunate than ourselves. I will spend money to help clothe and feed those less fortunate, but not for those I know have more than enough, and expect more.

Amen, Annella!!!! Couldn't have said it better myself!! If you were to ask most kids nowadays, they probably wouldn't EVEN know what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. All they want is STUFF!!

I was at costco the other day and they had all of their Christmas trees out on display. It seems like they really skipped over Halloween this year. I think that they need to keep their stock more relevant to what holiday is actually coming up.

Thank you IceKitty, you do know however that we are in the minority, but it's good to find someone else not affected by the hype.

I agree that it is about getting more money. The longer amount of time the merchandise is on sale, the more time there is to sell it.

I LOVE Christmas.  But I think it's pretty crazy that the Christmas decorations are next to the Halloween ones at the store.  I'm sure they are just trying to make more money.  But I wish they would wait at least until November.

I think it takes alot of joy out the Christmas season to see so much displayed so early.  The anticipation of Christmas and the real meaning needs to be first and foremost on everyone's mind, not what presents they want and don't need.
