I have often wondered what the Mystery Shopping entails.  A lot of them are scams, so you have to be careful if the one you go with is legit.

I did mystery shopping for sonic and burger king. Enjoyed it. Also got me out of the house some. At the same time i was doing merchandising for American greetings and Levy books at Walmart and kmart. So i god fed and worked at the same time. Good combo.

I've always been curious about Mystery Shopping too but when I've looked at websites for it, I've been scared they were scams.  Not sure how you'd know which would be a scam and which wouldn't.  But, if I ever find out for sure I will post it in the forum.

I hit post too quickly!, anyhow you really have to read the fine print on payouts bc some mystery shop companies only pay like every 60 days and that's AFTER they approve your shop which can be like 7-10 days later!!!  Good luck!!

How do you get in with the legitimate companies to do the mystery shopping??  Are there links to them somewhere that I haven't seen?  I would really like to do some of this but I don't want to waste my time if its not legitimate.  Thank you for any suggestions.

Just do a FusionCash search on your toolbar for MSPA or mystery shopping providers association. They are the first place to get great information about mystery shopping.  There are other websites on there as well that you can visit to learn more about it.
I've been doing mystery shopping on and off since 1999 and got silver certified via MSPA in 2001. You don't necessarily need it to get jobs but it can be a door opener for others.

There is another website you can search out that goes by the name of Volition where you can learn from other shoppers which companies are good and others to steer clear of.  They also have listings for Merchandising jobs.
Another one is NARMS...that one deals mostly with merchandising jobs.

For both...mystery shopping and merchandising...You have to do your due diligence with each company, see what others are saying about working for them,  sign up with as many as you can and then consider the offers to see if any are worth your while.

That is good that there is an association that provides names of legitimate companies.  That will make it more comfortable knowing you are signing up for a real company that pays.

I have a shop coming up this Friday! Due to my contract I can't say what it's for until after the shop is done and reported back to the customer, but it is for something I really, really needed. It's awesome to get reimbursed for something that I was going to do anyway.

I think people who have worked in either retail or customer service in the past are excellent for these tasks. We know how hard it is to deal with the general public on a daily basis, but at the same time we know what entails good customer service.

If you like writing, have good spelling and grammar, and have a good eye for detail, mystery shopping is awesome. It takes me about 30 - 45 minutes to type up my report and upload my images, so it's time well spent for free stuff!

Mystery Shopping looks like a fun way to get out of the house! (and travel within the community)
