I shop Mostly sales with coupons and buy as much as I have coupons.  Stocking up saves us money in the long run. We have to feed the family at home and hubby who drives a truck over the road.  So if it is needed and not on sale.. and no coupon.. well.. depending on what it is.. most of the items are just as good being store brand.. So hard to say.  I do not usually have to make that choice.  It is either go into the other room and get it.. or shop for it on sale

if you use coupons, and buy when items are on sale, it is easier to afford the name brand items.  i always use coupons for laundry products, cat food, and toilet paper.  i can't do the extreme couponing because i have no room to store all those products, but i can save a couple hundred a year.

In these days and times, I'm on a tight budget, as many people are.  I go with whatever is cheapest for most things.  Some things, however, like popcorn for example, I have to have the premium brands (Orville for me) because there is a difference in quantity and quality.

I use both name brands and generic depending if I have a coupon or not and if it is still cheaper to buy generic. Help!! I need a store that doubles coupon in my area..there are none!

I buy more store brand than Name brand but there are some things - like peanut butter - I prefer name brand. I buy wal-mart coffee now and its not bad but I tried a new sweetner from there the other day and its awful.

We use a lot of generic stuff  here to save money,  coffee is the only thing we get on a regular base that is name brand.

Generic Brand versus name brand would be.  Dollar general or so as the generic brand and sears or so as the name brand

I have slowly switched over to generic on most grocery items. I find for the most part there is no difference. However, there is certain stuff that the generic brand just does not match up to....toilet paper is one of them that comes to mind.

I prefer the name brands.Often they seem to be better quality. I do buy generic sometimes if the generic brand is good.

I usually buy generic / store brands as my mother did and still does.  She did it to save money for a family of six. I do it mainly because I have always done it that way. There is nothing I can think of that I have to the name brand for. I usually buy name brand deodorant but I don't have to have it. With Walmart across the street, it is easy to buy generic / store brand stuff. I would say 70% store brand, 25% generic and 5% name brand.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

Most of the time the generic brand is just as good as the name brand.  But you can get yourself in trouble from time to time.  It is a great way to save some money though.
