Lightsquared Debacle
« on: September 22, 2011, 02:22:57 pm »
Have you heard about this? One of our generals says he was pressured to lie in front of Congress, and the company that would have profited from his testimony (Lightsquared) was given copies of what he was told to say. The technology they want to make would interfere with our military's operations. There's also the fact that Pres. Obama invested in the company when it first started, then people with interest in the company gave him campaign money.

Show me the source.  Newsmax and World Net Daily don't count.

How about the AP as a source? Here's info on the problems with the tech they want to use: http://www.thestar.com/business/article/969886--new-u-s-wireless-network-could-bring-down-gps-systems-critics-warn

Emails were obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, showing suspicious contact between the White House and LightSquared executives: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/richard-adams-blog/2011/sep/17/obama-administration-barack-obama

The only place I could find confirmation about the pressure on the general was The Daily Beast: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/09/15/lightsquared-did-white-house-pressure-general-shelton-to-help-donor.html

I also found this article in The Hill, which is about both Solyndra and LightSquared: http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/182553-issa-to-investigate-government-loan-programs

This and Solyndra should effectively end his ability to influence Congress and continue his destruction of the US.

I get the feeling there is still more to this story than is known yet.  As a standard, I assume that anything Obama is involved in is corrupt and a bad idea anyways, but even considering that I know there is more going on here.  The fact that technology can be created so readily that can interfere with our military guidance systems causes me some concerns and is certainly something that would have needed to be corrected anyways and cannot be used as justification for halting the project (unless it is some sort of localized type situation -- but even that needs addressing).  It is pretty much agreed that he was instructed to conform his testimony to be inline with the white house and that is criminal in itself (I don't think it is witness tampering in this case but known as something else that escapes me).
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Suborning a witness, maybe?

"Under American federal criminal law, 'Whoever procures another to commit any perjury is guilty of subornation of perjury, and shall be fined $2,000 and sentenced to up to five years. Subornation of perjury occurs when anyone--not just a lawyer--encourages a witness to perjure her/himself. Violators can face a maximum of five years in prison.[2] That law has analogous provisions in every state of the union.'"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subornation_of_perjury
I don't think it is witness tampering in this case but known as something else that escapes me.

Here's another article, about a second witness who was "guided" to give the "90 days" testimony:http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/09/19/lightsquared-second-witness-rejects-white-house-testimony-guidance.html
