The hurricane interfered with my FC daily email
« on: August 29, 2011, 05:47:28 pm »
I'm way up north, and we got a little wind, and a rainstorm, but nothing we haven't seen before. The only natural disasters I have to worry about are blizzards & ice storms. I lose power for weeks at a time when a bad ice storm hits, but never for a hurricane. I was beyond angry when we lost power for 2 days. I mean, there was little damage reported in my town. I am grateful that we didn't have any, but I still don't know why we were all without power. Yeah, yesterday I had to check my email, and stuff and was bummed when I couldn't, but I was mad when I realized that I wouldn't be able to do my dailies.  >:(  :crybaby2: (pity party)

I hope everyone affected by the hurricane is safe.

It also interfered with my daily email. My power was only out for 1 day. It sucked so bad because there was nothing to do. I haven't seen much damage yet but schools were closed for Monday.

I didn't have any problem with a storm or hurricane, but my modem gave up the ghost last night. It just burned out and there wasn't even a blinking light on the poor thing. So.....I switched it out with an extra one I had, but it was a bit of a bummer getting it connected with my provider. After about 30 minutes I was surfing the web again. It's amazing that I used to program these things when mainframes took up whole floors of buildings, now I have trouble switching out a modem? This girl is getting old!!  lol

I sometimes get upset when I miss my clicks too, but then I think of the cost of electricity and how much I saved by not going on my computer and I think some of this sort of balances out.

If missing your daily email is all that happened to you during the hurricane, feel blessed!

I am. I know what it's like to have your property destroyed by a natural disaster.

I didn't lose power at my house but there was a lot of flooding in my area just not at my place thank goodness. Navigating through flooding was the worst part. Hopefully the waters will recede soon. I feel bad for the other people that have horrible damages to their homes. Hopefully, they all have insurance and can get their homes fixed up again. I was one of the lucky ones. Mother Nature has it's way of letting us know that the east coast is not exempt from Hurricanes. What an experience it was to hear the wind howling outside and branches falling here and there. I've went through a Tropical Storm before but that was in Puerto Rico. I never thought a hurricane would actually hit Philly or New York. That's unheard of. I'll never forget the week of 8/22/11-8/28/11 for as long as I live. On the 23rd we feel an aftershock and then the 27th a hurricane. That's crazy. I think the earthquake was just warning for us to get the heck out before Irene came along.
