Yes, it looks like the worst is over. But there will be plenty of people needing help and our prayers.

We don't have Irene coming down on us but we do have forest fires headed our way. I will pray for all the people that have natural disasters head for them. We have disasters all over our nation and everyone effected needs prayer.

My friend in NY prepared some  extra flashlights and batteries and, of course, ample wine and scotch to see them through.   It was a big blow, but they survived. I will keep praying for all the people who went through this terrible wind.

My sister and her family had been living in FL for the past 7 years and all the hurricanes missed them while there were there.  Then they get transferred to CT and arrived one day before Irene hit.  Talk about ironic, eh?

My dad reported they were all okay - lots of rain, some flooding, and power outages - but everyone is safe. 

Had another friend in NYC - she wasn't in an evacuation area, but wasn't very concerned.  Sounds like the NYC preparations went well.

Yes. It is wonderful that you brought this up to be sure to remember to continue to pray for these people who are facing such a bad disaster.  You never feel like it will be you in such a situation.  But there's proof all over that these disasters are thoroughly making their rounds.  My prayers are with the victims.
