I am from NJ and I didn't feel a thing. I was at work when it struck. It seems that I haven't really experienced a real Earthquake yet.

I live just south of Roanoke and this thing woke me up shaking my bed and nightstand was rattling. I stumbled to the window and looked outside thinking it was the wind or maybe an airplane had crashed nearby. Soon after I found out it was a quake. Needless to say it was quite an interesting experience!  :o

I didn't feel anything. I was driving when it was happening. I was listening to the radio and the announcer guy was like "a earthquake hit Virginia and it spread through new york". Well I didn't fell a thing but I feel sorrow for those who lost their lives in the earthquake. It was 5.9 magnitude .

Yeah that earthquake hit VA, but I felt it all the way over here in Philadelphia, PA. That was just the aftershock that I felt but it was still pretty scary and lasted about 40 seconds to a minute.

Yes, my brother is stationed in Virgina, he is in the coast guard. He called to say he was ok and that it only was very small amount of shaking. Whats funny is he just left San Francisco 6 mts ago after experiencing several earthquacks there.

Yeah  :-. I live in Texas where we are under the threats of extreme drought, tornadoes, and hurricanes, but none scare me much because they were just a fact of life growing up, but earthquakes scare me to death because they have little or no warning. So glad I don't live near a major fault line.

I heard that Virginia got hit pretty bad and I agree that things are getting consistently worse.  Maybe there is something to Gore's global warming prophecy (tic).  Little know is the earhquake that shook the soutwestern corner of Colorado.  People should expect earthquakes, and probably have earthquake insurance in coastal towns.  Places inland, like Colorado, do not expect to get hit with as many tragedies and don't prepare by purchasing insurance for calamities.  Houses are wrecked with no way of paying for them.

Yes, I heard about it in the news.  I don't hear a lot about earthquakes in that part of the US a lot.

I live about 15 miles from Mineral, VA, (in Louisa County) so we were in the very epicenter.  I was laying on my bed, getting ready to take a nap, when it began rumbling.   I thought at first it was a thunderstorm.   I jumped off the bed when things started flying off the walls and dresser tops, and yelled at my husband to get out.  It was pretty scary!!  My daughter and her family felt it in Raleigh, NC, and my Northern VA relatives felt it.  Actually, earthquakes are nothing new here.  I've felt a few smaller ones over the years, nothing like this, though.  Apparently we are in something called the Spotsylvanie Fault.  Spotsylvania (called Spotsy by the natives) is a county near Louisa.  Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injury, thank God.  But I'm still nervous tonight, since there were a couple of sizeable aftershocks and numerous smaller ones.
