A Few of My Favorite Things

Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
 
Does anyone remember the movie "The Sound of Music?"  Maria's song was "My Favorite Things."  I have been posting to Pet Peeves, so I thought I would start a happy topic for a change and list some of MY favorite things.  You're welcome to join in.

*My sweet and long-suffering husband.
*My 3 1/2 year old grandson, Jacob, who is so handsome and smart!!
*My daughter and son-in-law, who produced such a miracle.
*Horses and cows grazing in the field.
*Butterflies flitting here and there.

A few of my favorite things: 1- sleep (when I can) 2- my 2 year old nephew 3- my dog, Whiskey (he's a boston terrier) and  my most favorite thing is having the chance to raise my youngest sister and teach her to do all the things I didn't do when I was her age (and teach her NOT to do the things I did!)  Lord knows she needs someone to look up to so I'm glad I can be that person for her.

My best friends... my dogs and cats 
My best friends online who are like my family 
My husband who is a truck driver on the road... (who works so very hard everyday and sacrifices so much to support us here at home.) Not many people understand what it is like to be a truck driver who is over the road. They live out of their truck. It is like a box. No home made food. Just food they can make in their truck (microwave or hotplate) or truck stop food. You can NOT drive a big rig into a restaurant. Home time is many one or two days every month or so.   TIME spent with hubby is the best.
CELL phones... if we didn't have those there would be no contact with hubby on the road. 
My knitting... flowers... rain... clouds.. veggies...
Lastly my 3 girls.. who are out finding themselves... becoming independent adults out there in this big world.....

Oh yeah. I remember the movie well. My sisters and I knew the whole musical score by heart.  Edelwiess was a song that we performed as a trio for family gatherings (our poor family cause I don't think were were that good even though we were awfully cute. Some of my favorite things are:

My wonderfully funny creative and hard working husband
Anything my dad made
Anything my mom made
Fabrics
Shoes
Sunrises and sunsets
My sisters
My dog who went to doggy heaven
not necessarily in this order

I also memorized most of the score but I have to be alone to sing them.    I miss musicals like these - especially with Julie Andrews.
