Clearing Cookies
« on: August 16, 2011, 01:05:37 pm »
I have read in several posts that it is a good idea to clear the cookies from the computer before and after taking the surveys. 1.) How do I clear the cookies from my computer? 2.) What is the significants of this?   ???

Most reliable way is to click on "Start"
then click on "Control Panel"
then click on "Internet Options"

In the General Category, half way down is a section labeled Browsing history.
Click on "Delete"  In the new window:

You want to delete Temporary Internet Files
                             Cookies
                             History

Click on each link in sequence and it will remove all of the temporary files, cookies and history that is stored on your PC.  Depending on how long it's been since you did this, it may take some time -- and the longer it takes, the better your PC will respond after you clear these files.

When the processing window closes, click "Close" and then "Ok" and close the Control Panel window.

If you use Internet Explorer, there is a "tools" link in the upper right side of your screen:  click on Internet Options and it will take you to the same "General" category window.

When you access websites again, you may have to load your username to sign in or if you play games, the games will need to be downloaded again.  If you're on broadband this will not be a problem -- on dial-up it will take time to reload games and pages that had been previously stored on your computer.

I have also downloaded CCleaner (google this for the free download).  It does a more complete job of cleaning out temp files, cookies and a lot of other things that might be slowing your computer down.

That's what I love about this forum!  Ask a question and get a complete, knowledgeable answer!  I, myself, have often wondered if I was clearing cookies correctly.  Now I am putting this explanation on my notepad so that I can find it easily when I need it.  Never even heard of CCleaner, so thanks swogden!

Thank you for telling how to do this, in simple terms, your directions are so easy to understand. They will help a lot of people I to have sent it to myself in and email to use in the future.

Wanted to thank you swogden for the response. Just finished clearing the cookies and temp internet files. First time I've done that so it did take a bit but my computer is actually running much better!! I guess if I get anything out of this site it'd be that since the money isn't coming in too quickly!! Thanks again for taking the time to explain that to me!

Clearing the cookies is so when you do a similar offer, then you don't have a cookie on your computer that says you have already done it. But you should wait a few minutes at least after you do the offer before you clear your cookies. To make sure you get credit.

The CCleaner tip is great. I use it a lot. I actually don't use it to clear my Firefox cookies though. If you are using Firefox you can use the ctrl-alt-del keys to bring up the cookie clearing menu. But I downloaded an add on called Selective Cookie Delete. By using this to clear my cookies I can make a list of websites that I don't want the cookies removed from, so that when I clear my cookies, it doesn't log me out from games and things I am playing.

You can also download the FusionCash toolbar and clear you cache, cookies & history right from the toolbar. You can also see your current balance and the last offer that you completed from the toolbar.

I do use Firefox, but not as my main browser (IE), so when I ctrl-alt-del I bring up a menu that included the Windows Task Manager, but there is no cookie delete menu.  I use Windows 7 on my laptop and XL on my desk top.
I like the Selective Cookie Delete idea. Will check it out.  Does this complement CCleaner or does it also work with the IE/Windows deletion program?

PS:  Glad my notes were helpful.  This Forum is great for sharing ideas, problems and solutions.
