Bats without a doubt. I wish they were legal to have as pets in IL.

I think bats do more of a service by eating annoying insects. Not to sure on what benefits rats really give the ecosystem besides being food for feral cats.

Bats, they are cute and fuzzy even though I wouldnt touch one. I have never heard of bad things about bats but rats get into your house and try to ruin everything but mostly food. I hate having to check boxes to make sure there were not rats trying to get into them, when you know they are around. Then you also have to set traps and see/move their dead bodies.

I love them both.  I'm not a fan of wild rats, obviously, but I would love to have some pet rats.  My sister is obsessed with bats, so her love of them has rubbed off on me a bit, so it's too hard for me to pick.
