I think some people feel that if they get blown in their driveway from being left out that they are theirs to claim.   :dontknow:

Never had a problem with it. Never even though of it being a problem. Strange

so, i wonder if the neighbors noticed the trash cans were gone. hmm maybe they will get the hint. if they live here then they can afford to buy new trash cans and not use ours anymore.

No, but I use my neighbors garbage can. If pickup day is the next morning and I have extra that won't fit in mine, I wait until midnight and prowl around the street to see if any of the neighbors have leftover space and fill it up. It gets picked up the next morning, so what's the big deal?

I would rather they use my garbage cans that leave it all over the neighborhood, I mean really it is just garbage for heavens sake, if it can keeps someone from littering then by all means stash the trash in my cans!

I have to say up at the cabin in the mountains there are shared garbage cans between the 4 local cabins.
That's the deal otherwise we would all have to individually drive the garbage to a processing center.
The mountain is too steep for service to pick up at all the cabins.

If it really causes a problem, like you don't have room for your garbage or you are getting charged for extra, then talk to them.  If they refuse to stop, talk to the landlord.  Otherwise, let it go.  Life's too short for hard feelings over garbage.

It's doing something behind their back without their knowledge. It's just good manners to ask if you need extra space for your garbage. If you have to buy your own cans (and some WM companies require you do), it can get expensive. What gives you the right to use others property because you are too cheap to buy extra cans for your extra refuse? Prowling around at midnight in my neighborhood, looking in neighbors garbage cans can get you arrested for trespassing.

I would no more use my neighbors bathroom without them knowing it, or swim in their pool without their permission. If I went in their garage and borrowed their lawnmower without permission to cut my lawn, makes me deceptive. Doesn't matter if I put it back or not.

I don' use my neighbors trash can, because we don't have any.  I burn everything I can and recycle the cans, jars, and other non-burnables.  We have a place that will take this stuff free as long as it isn't mixed in with trash.  Other wise they charge $1 a bag and that adds up so I burn and recycle.  I was offered by a friend to drive and throw my trash in there dumpster but they are seven miles away and I don't have a car right now.  I might take him up on the offer because there is no limit and they are closer than the recycle center.

When I lived in alaska, many people lived outside the larger towns and had to haul their own garbage as there was no pick up service. You would be surprised how innovative you can get to keep that garbage from piling up until next haul out to the dump. Of course up there, the burn rules didn't really apply and many folks had burn barrels and burned a lot of their trash especially property refuse like grass clippings, weeds, loose branches, etc. You didn't want to burn a lot of paper and packaging in your wood stove or fireplace because of the creosote buildup in the chimneys. that's what the burn barrel was for. My neighbor almost burned her house down when a fire started in her chimney.

yes guys it is the point!! they are using our stuff without our permission and i dont like that. like i said if they live here and spend $675-$700 a month on rent, they can afford to buy their own garbage cans!! i know what my garbage looks like!! and i recycle so ...WTF!!  :bs:
