 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
   and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
Luke 2:8/20

Psalm 27
Of David.
 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—
   whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
   of whom shall I be afraid?

 2 When the wicked advance against me
   to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
   who will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me,
   my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
   even then I will be confident.

 4 One thing I ask from the LORD,
   this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
   all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
   and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble
   he will keep me safe in his dwelling;
he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent
   and set me high upon a rock.

 6 Then my head will be exalted
   above the enemies who surround me;
at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy;
   I will sing and make music to the LORD.

 7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
   be merciful to me and answer me.
8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
   Your face, LORD, I will seek.
9 Do not hide your face from me,
   do not turn your servant away in anger;
   you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
   God my Savior.
10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
   the LORD will receive me.
11 Teach me your way, LORD;
   lead me in a straight path
   because of my oppressors.
12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes,
   for false witnesses rise up against me,
   spouting malicious accusations.

 13 I remain confident of this:
   I will see the goodness of the LORD
   in the land of the living.
14 Wait for the LORD;
   be strong and take heart
   and wait for the LORD.

Another of my favorite Psalms.Don't get weary and never give up for the Lord walks beside you.

John 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all man, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man, for He knew what was in man

John 3:22-36

22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized. 23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24 (This was before John was put in prison.) 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing. 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”

 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.

We should seek to make Christ first in our lives.As John said "He must become greater,I must become less."  :notworthy:

Well,I've made my month's tally of posts.But before I take a break for the next week or so,I leave you with this,(Matt 11:28-30)

Presumably, cutting & pasting 'biblical' quotes don't count as "contributory" under FC's getting paid to post guidelines, (posting just to have the minimum number of posts to qualify for the bonus without such posts being contributory according to FC).  No doubt the "Sith" are to blame for this state of affairs and 3 other posts are selected as examples of contributory ones.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Perhaps they don't count as "contributory" to you, sir, but to many Christians, such as myself, these verses are always inspirational to read and be reminded of.  There is nothing whatsoever wrong with anyone posting Bible verses.  They are indeed contributory to many.  I'm glad you aren't in charge of counting posts as contributory or not contributory.

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."

My favorite for guidance.

Independent upon which version was sourced from memory, "direct your paths" was also variously rendered as "in all your ways submit to him" and you may well assume that isn't going to happen for certain posters.

Ostensibly, you 'thumpers have 'bibles' for that; unless of course, you're proselytizing evangelically.

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with anyone posting Bible verses.  They are indeed contributory to many.  I'm glad you aren't in charge of counting posts as contributory or not contributory.

Indeed, just as there is nothing wrong with dissenting with 'bible verses' as being on or, off-topic.  Luckily, you aren't in charge of that either.

It was pre-tainted before I posted however, you've supposedly got my posts on "ignore", (which means you've 'discovered' that when someone else whom you haven't placed on "ignore" quotes those posts, they're still seen).  I see that 'Sithjhonnie' cannot quite grasp the concept.

Cease being one and begging for hand-outs then.

Great message, it gave me support in a moment of my life when I need it the most. It made me go back to the Bible to look for guidance and support. Helps a lot when you are feeling down, it picks you right back up from the ground.

Why is it unsurprising that such self-delusions can seem to provide empty comfort? <--rhetorical question
