Question, and answer honestly: Have all of you read the whole Bible? I've tried, but it's really hard to keep with it. I just don't see how everyone memorizes all those verses unless they were from sermons at church and they keep notes.

No, I have not read the whole bible, and I can only quote a few verses verbatim. I remember the context of the ones that inspire me the most and I memorize the book, chapter & verse. If you know where to find them or some of the key words in the verse(s), you can look them up at biblegateway.com.

I suppose I've read the whole Bible, but yeah, there are certain books that I haven't read too many times.Certainly not enough times to memorize them.

James 1:2-4

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Great question!  Over several years, I've completed the Bible, and then started over again.  I've read through the New Testament several times.  The Old Testament is definitely tougher to get through.  It helps to have a Bible Handbook, and/or another version, that can help to explain or clarify what certain terms or things mean.

As far as memorizing verses, it's entirely up to you just which verses and/or how many to memorize.  For most, memorizing Scripture that means a lot or touches your heart, and/or is a big help to get you through tough situations, that is the meaningful or chosen way.

I wish you the best if you decide to keep working on it.  Just do what you can or choose to do, or there are also suggested plans laid out for daily reading of the Bible to complete in a year, or longer, or whatever is best for you.  :)

2Peter3:14-17

So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

~ Psalm 104:33-34  (ESV) ~

"33  I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.

34  My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord."

Being a music vocal major in college, verse 33 is one of my favorite heart-felt bonds with the Lord.  :)

Matt 28:18-20

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 2:1-4

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Romans 11:33
Common English Bible (CEB)
33 God’s riches, wisdom, and knowledge are so deep! They are as mysterious as his judgments, and they are as hard to track as his paths!
