HIGH SCHOOL advice/help
« on: July 14, 2011, 11:29:03 am »
Hey guys, for anyone reading this, I'd appreciate it if they could help me out on this a bit...

Well you see, next week is the first day high school for me now and I'm entering my junior year. I was waiting for my whole sophomore year to kinda be over because I really didn't like the school I was going to. It was really poor and small and dangerous (lots of gangs). Anyway, there's this other school a bit farther away from where I live that I want to go to because all my friends were there which made it better. So after finally my sophomore year was over and summer started, I talked to my parents about switching me and they sorta agreed. Now that summer break is almost over for me, I went back to my parents to see if they transferred me already and I found out that they enrolled me in the same school I was before last year!! I was pretty pissed but I calmed myself down and asked myself , ``Is there still a chance to enroll to the other high school that I want to go to?"
And like I said, next week is the first week of high school....

So my question to you guys is, Is there a way or even a chance to still transfer to the other school??
I'm even willing to miss the first days of school just to transfer and I live in California if that helps.
Thanx guys...

I don't live in California but I know a lot of people that transfer schools in the middle of the school year. Some even transfered schools 2 or 3 times in the same school year. You might have to go to your current school for a few days just to get all the paper work done but I'm sure transfering schools during the school year isn't impossible.

Hey, @genfo12 the thing about parents is, when you ask them about something important to you that needs results, you got to keep asking, & keep asking, & keep asking, until their so annoyed they follow through what you want done just to get you off their back. You see it in little kids where they pester the mom over & over until he gets that candy bar. In other words don't trust your parents at their word. You have to follow through until the task is done. Well all that is under the bridge now. So, here's what you need to do, get your parents to talk to the school that you want to go to. Make sure that you bodily get them to follow through with paper work & what not. Also, before you get you're parents involved, go to the school of your choice talk to a guidance consular for information & what are the options  you have in order to take steps to get the ball rolling. Hope this helps, & always remember, when you ask your parents for something or to do something important for you; don't trust them to follow through with their word alone. You have keep at them until the results you desire is completed. Good Luck!

I am from california what part are you located.  I am not sure how schools work there anymore but here in Missouri you have to go to the school that is in your living in because there are borders to say who go to what school.  Now here if you want to go to a different school than you have to pay tuition. So maybe your parents looked into it and decided they could aford that tuition.  Yes there is still time to enroll I am sure.

Well there's a chance you can get transfer, I'm from California and during my high school years I see new students transferring all the time.

I would say the first thing you need to do right away is research. You do have time to transfer anytime during the year. You need to check and see if the school is in or outside of your district. Because it is true that you do have to pay to transfer outside your district and the amount varies. So you need to find out if there is an amount and how much. If you have all the information already then atleast when you talk to them again you can stand your ground and tell them all the reasons you want to do this. At my school the charge was only $100, but it is higher at alot of schools. Good luck!

You have probably already started school by the time this got around. I know out here it is against the law to go to a different school other than where you live. But people do it. You can change schools during the school year though. My question would be why did your parents not change you, did they forget, or was there another reason. I would examine that first, and then go from there. Sometimes we are put in schools or jobs to make a difference and maybe that is you as well. I know I keep asking myself why I work the place I do, with corruption going on, it doesn't seem right, and it is not where I think God would put me, but maybe it is just the place God would put me.
