Yes, the best group of talent this year.  I love the dancing and the singing.  Go luck to the rest of the talent.

Yes, I do and i actually got a chance to see it last night after I had my webinar for my work. I really thought the silhouettes would of won though but i am very happy for Landel Eugene Murphy, Jr. He deserves it after all he's been through.

Last night was the first time I have ever watched it.  I wanted to see if Landau Euguene Murphy, Jr. won or not.  He is from a small town not too far from where I live.  I am happy for him that he won.  I just hope he continues to give God the credit for his talents and doesn't let the fame and bright lights to dim his service for God and to use his God-given talent for His work.
Have a wonderful day!

I like the show, and DVR it, but there are a few things that annoy me about the show too:

  • As Samvlog said, it is about having a Vegas show vs actual talent. Some people have much more talent, but what they do wouldn't hold people's attention for an entire Vegas show.
  • It is sometimes just a popularity contest. People vote for the person instead of the talent / show. For example, although Landau is a very talented singer, I think some of his votes were due to his background story -- the ol' Rags-to-Riches story. Ditto for a lot of the child acts and pet acts; they are cute but not necessarily the most talented.
  • The bickering of the judges. I think the reality show producers have decided that a little dissension among the judges creates drama that the audience enjoys (eg Simon Cowel) but there is always the "heavy-handed" judge in these shows and it sometimes seems too contrived.
  • The judges seem to influence voters. Even when the audience is supposedly the only voters, what the judges say has a major impact in what the audience votes for. Sometimes what they say is fairly obvious, so I think that the audience would have picked up on it. But other times it is much more subjective advice, and seems to make or break an act. The West Side Dance Team was criticized in their last performance for being too predictable for doing another horror dance routine, yet iLuminate wasn't likewise criticized for doing another glow-in-the-dark dance routine. Conversely the Russian Bar team was criticized for doing something different than what they had been doing to get them to the place they were at.
  • The show's math. There was the semi-finals shows, and then the Top 10, and then the finale. Um... "semi-finals" is the contest right before the finals. If anything the "semi-finals" should be named the "quarter-finals" and the Top 10 would be synonymous with the semi-finals. I kept wondering how they were going to pair down the 10 "finalists" to one when watching the "semi-finals", but then realized later that there was one additional contest between the semi's and the finale.

yea, but I think it keeps getting worse and worse. I'll never forget the first season with the ventrilaquist (sp?) That guy was awesome and he was the one my grandma wanted to win and he did. She died the next year so that's what I remember that so well.

Are you talking about Terry Fator?  He won it one year.  He is great.  I have his DVD of his Vegas show.  It is so funny.  The best part is the commentary by the puppet characters at the end!  I highly recommend it!
Have a wonderful day!

I always question the validity of the voting because how on earth are kids going to up and move to Vegas to have an act there. Like I knew that the Silouhettes(sp) weren't going to win because there was way too many kids in that group. Would they all move to Vegas to perform there? I doubt it. I have only watched the show a few times. Has a kid ever won? I guess I can understand one child because the parents may want to move and make a lifetime move for the child, but I just don't see every parent of those groups of children all moving to Vegas. What does everyone else thing about that?

It was a real tough one to call this year.  I'm glad Landau won, he's very deserving.  The Silhouettes are not the first of their kind, I saw a similar group on Oprah a couple years ago and in commercials since.  There's no reason for all those families to move to Vegas because their kids won the contest.  They said the winner would headline a Vegas show, but I don't recall hearing that it was a long term engagement.  Besides they announced that the three runners up would also be performing in the show the winner headlines, but I don't think they mentioned dates.  There's no reason they couldn't be tutored while they were doing the show, then go home with stories to tell and great show and tell material.  :star:  :star:  :star:  :star:
