How does the new game, Textrex-Egyptian, work?
« on: July 01, 2011, 04:04:35 am »
I loaded the game and figured out that the controls were the arrows on my keyboard (not the arrows on the game page).  Managed to get 200 points on level one, but haven't figured out how to get level 2.  Do I need to reach a given number of points?  I did notice that the window where the blocks come down does move down a bit as you play so more blocks can emerge, but you really have to work the controls (correctly) to avoid ending the game

Also assume that on higher levels, the blocks move faster.  But if you're going to break 4700, you'll need to figure out the game better than I did and be quick!

i can't remember if the levels advance based on points or just time. i haven't played tetris in a long time so i forgot.
the game does eventually get really hard once you get to a high level. i haven't been able to get a high score in this and i'm good at a lot of video games.

I dont know how to get to level 2 either. I just keep on adding up the points. It is very similar to the original Tetrix.

Still haven't gotten to level 2; max score is the lucky 200 I got early.

Looks like you need to have filled in most of the blocks across the bottom row to have the window move down.  Haven't figured out how the game is scored.

Would be nice if there were rules that explained how the game works and how scores were generated.  Guess that supposed to part of the challenge:  figure out how it works as you go along.

Finally figured out the game to some extent.

Object of the movement is to fill in a line completely (no spaces) with blocks.  When a line is filled, it disappears.  When you've filled ten such lines you move to the next level.

Managed to get to level 2 with 600+ points!  Long way to go to 4700!

I have a question. Suppose you do reach the required minimum score. I did in the last memory game before Tetrix 2, but I couldn't figure out how to get my score listed on the high score chart! I saw that some members are listed. Can anyone who has gotten credited explain how to do this?  ???

Thanks!

CORRECTION!!!

When you finish a game, you will be offered a link to post your score.  You can do that at any score - you don't have to wait until you exceed 4700.  For the current game, they show the first 100 top games by players (some by the same player as they have improved) -- currently the scores range from 1400 to 5000+.

If you want credit, first you must post your score USING THE CODE NAME SHOWN ON THE OPENING PAGE and it must show as being above 4700 in the list of posted scores for the game.  Then you go back to the games opening page and click the link to claim credit.  That is where the code is that you need to put in when you get a score to post (write that down -- believe it is the same for you for every game).

I've never exceeded the required game limit, so I'm not sure what happens next.  Will let any one of the good players respond to that.

I managed to exceed 1000 and got to the 3rd level, but I'm still below the top 100.  Boy, you guys are good!

That game sounds kind of challenging

It is challenging!  I figured out that you need to keep the blocks on the lower half of the table filling in across the table so the line disappears.  If they get higher than that, it becomes difficult to manuver the falling block into place.  Filling the spaces as flat as possible helps and avoid spaces at all costs.  You can use the "P" key to pause the game and take a breath, but not sure that gives you time to think.

I got above 1000 and level 3 -- still a long way to go!

Finally got to level 6 and over 2000, but that most of time its much less than that.  I may have reached my limit.  Congrads to those over 4700!  Obviously, it can be done.
