Consider abortion if the mother's life is at risk. Otherwise, I think it would be best not to abort.

Oh this CRAP about the mother's life being at risk. You know that you can get a doctor to say most anything, ESPECIALLY, if there is a DOLLAR in it for him. If a woman has high blood pressure or is diabetic, I am sure that the GOOD DOCTOR would say that this would put the mother's life at risk to give birth.

I am pro choice all the way.

My brother once had an interesting comparison for abortion. He compared a fetus at different stages to different animals. It goes through stages from a lesser to a higher being. Near the beginning it is similar to a slug and at the end when it comes out it is a baby human. Now how many people would feel bad for killing a slug..... not many, right? So why hold so much more value in the life of an undeveloped fetus than that of a slug or any other creature on this earth. We kill lesser animals all the time for food, convenience or pleasure. But in the case of abortion the reasons are much more reasonable including emotional and physical trauma, huge expense, unable to care for properly, correcting a life changing mistake, etc..

This isn't to sway you to my side but rather to show you an alternate view. I completely understand if you never want to have an abortion. Like I said it is an individual choice and I think it should stay that way.

There are far to many children in this world who need homes and loving family. Abortions are ways to provide these kids with more option and to make sure every kid has a loving and caring home. Children are the highest demographic of the homeless population fyi.

Women believe there are many reasons to abort such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, there is never an acceptable reason to get an abortion. Some important reasons why women should not abort have to do with human values, religious values, and values of conscience.

The first reason why women should not have an abortion is related to basic human values. Women need to think about their unborn babies who are not responsible for this situation. These unborn babies should have the privilege to live and grow into a normal person. Women need to be more humanitarian and less egoistic with these babies. On the other hand, the baby doesn’t know how or why he is here. It is not necessary to kill a life; there are many other solutions to resolve this problem short of abortion.

The second reason why women should not abort has to do with religious values. In almost all religions, a woman is not permitted to have an abortion. If they do, their religions will punish them. In some religions, for example, a woman cannot take communion after having an abortion, and before taking communion again, she must do many things as a form of penitence. In whatever religion, abortion is punished and for this reason, women should not abort.

Finally, the third and most important reason why women should not abort is the related to her conscience. When a woman has an abortion, she will always think about the baby she might have had. She will always think about the future that could have happened with her baby which will always remind her that she killed it. Because she has had an abortion, she will never have a good life, and her conscience will remind her of what she had done. Because a woman who has an abortion can’t forget about what she has done, these thoughts will always be with her, and the results can be calamitous.  :angel11:
1. The fetus (Not a 'baby') isn't aware it's even alive, is not even sentient for that matter until I think 7 or 8th month. Until it gets into later in the pregnancy, it's a clump of cells that looks nothing like a human. As I said in another thread, all those 'pro life' pictures of aborted fetuses, if they look like a baby then it was a late term abortion and you'll be hardpressed to find a pro choice person that agrees with late term.

2. Religion plays no part in a logical argument.

3. You're generalising that all women will feel guilty and not live a good life. This is false.

I think abortion should be the last option but still an option. If you don't like abortion or think you'll feel guilty then you don't get one. You have a right to your beliefs and opinions but you have no right to push them on someone else.

I wouldn't say this is one persons belief. Notice the grammar. She obviously plagerized this from someone else.
That was my first thought on reading the OP's post.

It's rather...odd... if you think about it.  All these people saying abortion is murder.  If giving birth to a child kills the mother, wouldn't that mean then that the child murdered the mother?  If the mother maintains her pregnancy, knowing that she will die from it, and then dies while giving birth...is that suicide?

Sorry, the above quoted posts got me thinking about that....it's not what I believe....just going off on a mental tangent...

My opinion is: I am pro-choice, but wouldn't get an abortion myself.

Women still do die in childbirth and there is no way that you can say that pregnancy and childbirth is not a risk for women. A risk that most of us gladly accept but it is still a significant risk.

A close friend of mine had to have an emergency c-section and hysterectomy at 25 years old to save her life when she was pregnant with her 3rd child. Both mom and baby are fine now but it was very touch and go with my friend and she is VERY lucky that her doctor was vigilant or she would not have survived.
