Sick in the summer time???
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:39:53 pm »
So every year I get allergies around this time of the year, but recently I've actually fallen sick! I'm wondering if this is normal or its just because I have allergies or if I really should go check in with the doc. Opinions?

90 days before expiration. Mine has to be before Aug.

If being sick lingers on long I would probably get it checked out by the doctor.  Like tisa, I tend to get bronchitis easily whereas I never used to get it at all.  You don't want it to go into pneumonia.  I have asthma and allergies and have been suffering for a long while.  I started asthma shots 8 months ago because they figured out my allergy cells aren't protecting me from the outside influences.  The shots are supposed to go in and do the work for me.  I hope you feel better soon.  Hang in there! :)

I have only had a minor case of bronchitis when I traveled to another country. Sorry guys you get seriously sick too. My mom keeps nagging me about my animals being the cause. I have a small dog and cat. I doubt it is. My friend said it might be because I need my tonsils removed. I really don't know if tonsils have to do with sinus and cold.

I usually get sick in the summer from having the fan on me when the air is on at night.

Allergies always seem to be at their worst from April until Mid-August.  I live in Colorado and the altitude, and arid conditions, seems to add to the equation with people suffering from chronic coughing.  I have a horrible cough.  I went to Minnesota and Texas last week and had absolutely no coughing episodes.  I am thinking that this was because of the lower altitude and humid conditions.  I would rather suffer in the dryer climate than go back to oppressive humidity.

Actually, you would be surprised at what the tonsils can do.  One of my 3 children, the oldest, always got strept throat, to the point that we asked the doctor if he was a carrier of it.  Our other 2 would get it but usually after the older one got it and not near as often.  He ended up having his removed and to be honest, I think he has only had it maybe once since then, and it was mild at that.  I had my removed when I was a kid and it helped with some issues with me.  They were always swollen and hurt and I always felt I was talking "on top" of my throat, if that makes any sense.  :-

At the same time, however, even though I don't have my tonsils now, I struggle with the asthma and chronic bronchitis.  In that respect it does make me wonder if it would make any difference in your situation about removing your tonsils or not.  If things get worse for you, definitely get to the doctor.  While you are there you could ask about it.

I hope you feel better soon.  It's not fun for you.  You need to be able to be out and about enjoying the summer days!

P.S.  We have 3 cats and 1 dog.  My cat is my profile picture.  I was tested (allergy tests) with the needles  :P, and am not allergic to them.  Thank the Lord, for that!!  I don't know what I would do without my kitty!!!

I would have to agree with you about that!  I can't handle the humidity when it's hot and thick.  I hope they can find something for your cough.  I have a cough medicine I can use when my coughing is extreme and I've already used my inhaler.  It's got hydrocodone in it and makes me really drowsy but it works wonders for about 12 hours when I'm having a bad episode.  Take care of yourself!  :)
