ive always had a sort  of bad connotation on them. in my opinion, you cant learn a whole lot about a person online.

i've joined a few of these websites just for the heck of it.
i've never really accomplished anything from it though?

i don't see that they work.
maybe for some people.
not sure i buy the "1 in 5" statistics.

mmmm not really into dating sites lol and im not that old also but well if you find someone then congrats to you. Id rather meet them through people I know than online sites.

I have always been against them.  But a friend of mine convinced me to join plentyoffish.com just for fun, so I did.  I got A LOT of replies.  Some were scary. The kinds of pictures that someone would send a complete stranger just boggle my mind.  I have met some people on their that are okay to chat with.  But everyone always wants to meet up or ask me for my phone number, and I won't go there.  Plus I have a hard time believing that some of the pictures out there are really what the people look like.  You just never know nowadays.  Now I have friends that use dating sites and love them.  They go on dates all the time.  It just isn't for me, but some people seem to really like them.

I'm really skeptical of them, but I think they might be useful if you live somewhere where it's hard to meet the sort of people you want.

i bet the 1 in 5 is spot on -- probably going to be a higher percentage soon.
i met my husband online -- we MET that way but we learned about each other as we began dating.

I think you can meet all kinds of people in all kinds of ways.  Going to the bars -- what is the difference in a drunk conversation vs. a few e-mails or reviewing an online porfolio?

if people want to lie about how they look or who they are -- they will do that no matter what -- sure meeting in person you can't hide how you look as easily, but you know ...

I'm on okcupid.  Got one date out of it thus far, but I'm not all that active on there either.  Finding one that's actually decent and free is hard; okcupid is free but it's not exactly a high quality site.
