I use paypal and I consider it as safe as any other methoed of electronic funds transfer.  Just got to be careful in how you manage your funds and check and double check what is going on.  Heck our attorney general here in Texas posted all our information on the internet for over 6 months and nobody bothered it until the media brought it to everybodys attention.

I've used Paypal since before they were part of eBay.  Never had any problems with them.  Very easy to use & transfer money to/from and not every payment processor is.

I signed up for the convenience despite many conflicting reports of how reliable paypal is (lots of nightmare reviews of accounts being locked for no apparent reason).  Mostly what I've been able to gather, for the average individual, paypal works just fine.  I've had no issue receiving my payments for months now.

Seems the people who have more issues with accounts being locked are people running businesses and swap in/out hundreds and thousands of dollars frequently.  I'm guessing locking the account is paypal's way of controlling their float - but if it causes issues with disgruntled businesses - I would think that would be bad for their business.  But this is just pure speculation on my part based on the reviews I've found online (always consider the source, right?).

Paypal is safe as far i'm concerned. Even then there other payment methods such as bank transfer.

In my opinion, paypal is the safest and most convenient method of payment.  I hope that is helpful.

I love PayPal, in fact I just applied for their debit card so I can use them for non-computer purchases. Most of my sites work directly with PayPal which is great. Makes purchasing things online so much safer and convenient. I just wish all my survey sites would allow me to directly deposit in to PayPal. Thankfully FC works with PayPal. By the way, thanks FC for that.

I have used Paypal since before they were joined with Ebay. If Ebay likes them then they must be safe. Just watch your transactions. I check my account every day. I wish every site used them. :)

I think that another reason why some people have issues with Paypal has been because there are certain countries that Paypal has stricter rules about. But since you live in the US, it should be as problematic as if you were to live in China, for example.

I use pay pal for accepting money for my online business and have never had troubles wiht pay pal. they are also very good with catching anything that could be wrong. personally my bank requested that pay pal refund the money and gave me so many days to fix the problem. everything worked out. the problem wasnt with paypal. my bank changed how many times you could make an electronic transfer but pay pal protected those i had bought from.

PayPal is very easy and convenient.  Now if they could just give you interest for carrying a balance with them...  :)
