What was your 1st job?
« on: May 07, 2011, 03:35:59 am »
What was your 1st job?
Besides babysitting my 1st real paying job was working in a family daycare center. I cared for children 0-3 years I loved the kids but the hours were very long and the pay was terrible. That job did lead to a 17 year career with preschoolers so It was  more than worth it.

Did your 1st job start you in a new career or did it provide a paycheck to get a better job?

Be grateful for what you have and you will receive more than you ever expected

If you believe it you can achieve it.

Small Consistent Steps Lead to Great Rewards

my first "real" job was at JC PENNEY in the catalog department..... back in those days  ;D that was a very big business.  It only made me realize I NEVER wanted to work in retail again!!!

My 1st job was working as a cashier in a local department store.  The lady that was training me left me on the register by myself!!  I remember having a huge line backed up half way through the store!  I was soooo stressed because I didnt have a clue as to what I was doing!  It was my first day on the job!  Needless to say after that first day, I never went back....Well only to get my itsy bitsy check....lol lol

My first job was taking care of plants at a high school during one summer. I originally signed up for cooking but later found out their budget was cut. Cooking was replaced with job-seeking related work (how to write a resume, what to do on an interview, etc). After three weeks, I was switched doing garden work.

I worked at the movie theater in town.  It was super fun and we were always staying busy, but in the 3 years I worked there I never got a raise...and I did the best work I could, top notch.  What penny pinchers...

I originally started doing odd jobs around the house for cash before I was twelve. Between twelve and fifteen I used to work at horsetracks in Chicago for cash.  Once I was old enough to work, at age sixteen, I applied for three jobs and got all of them.  I was too young to turn any of them down so I would work at Arthur Treacher's on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-11, Tuesday's and Thursday's 4-9/Saturday's 7-3 at Stein's and Friday's 4-11,Saturday's 4-11 and Sundays 7-8 and still get my school work done.

Honestly, my first job was babysitting. I see it as a real job, because it does require skills to take care of children. Hahaha. But I loved every minute of it. :) I want to go to college to be an ultrasound technician soon, though. I would love to do that.

I worked as a babysitter for a while but that wasn't really a steady thing so my first real job was working as a bussboy at a local resturaunt, met a few jerks there but mostly the customers were very friendly and tipped well

I was a Union Carpenter for 3 months as my 1st job. I lost the job due to getting injured on the job site. I'm not gonna go into details because I'm still upset with the Union. Now, I'm working as a Courtesy Clerk and its a Union job as well which SUCKS!!!!

My first job was babysitting, followed by grass cutting, followed by working in a day care... all of these were in the teen years.
