The Unsubscribe option in the DCEs
« on: May 06, 2011, 09:57:22 pm »
Why is the option to unsubscribe to the Daily Cash E-Mails given by FC? Is it like stopping the mail at the post office for a couple of weeks when we are going out of town on business or a family vacation or have a family emergency of some sort that makes it necessary to be away from the site for an extended period?

So if we do opt out of the DCEs, how do we opt back in? Of course, allowing the DCEs to continue while we are unable to work the site for an extended period would really cause no problem, so is it really necessary at all?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've never used the opt out option for the paid emails, but I suspect that when you came back and wanted to resume getting them, you would need to reregister.

If you let the emails continue to come to you, but you don't open them for an extended period (5 days or so), you will automatically be removed from the mailing list and when you come back you will need to re-register.

One time, I lost track of the emails -- think they went to one of my spam files -- and then I stopped getting them and had to re-register.  Not a problem, just had to wait a couple of days for the emails to reappear and then find them.  Haven't had a problem since then -- they have always been in my regular email box.

I appreciate your response to my query, swogden!

I did not know that if you don't respond to your DCEs for 5 days or more that you would automatically be removed from the mailing list and need to re-register, but that does make perfect sense and also answers my question. Thanks again!

May I ask how long you were a member before you were given the distinction of being a Helpful Contributor? I couldn't help but notice that nice big blue star under your username! :notworthy:

I've been a member since 2007 -- tho really got active in the last year when I discovered the $3.00 posting bonus for 30 contributory posting each calendar month in the Forum.    Never thought I was that much of a "chatter", but it's easy to get into it after a while - especially with new people coming on board all the time.

If you click on a person's name on a forum posting you can see when they joined the Forum and how active they.

I received the Helpful Contributor blue star a couple of months ago - came from being an active and helpful (full of explanations and directions on FC activity) Forum contributor.  Nice surprise when it happened.

Thanks swogden,

I was also surprised how quickly I took to posting comments in the forum. The $3/mo posting bonus is a great incentive, but my real reason is the same as oldbuddy's: I'm just having too much darn fun posting and especially enjoy helping the newbies with their questions as they struggle to learn the ropes. It's a good feeling to be in a position to help those who are just starting out.

I see you've been a member for quite a while before you were given the distinction of being a Helpful Contributor and I'm sure it was a very pleasant surprise. Well-earned too, I can say, after taking a look at your past posts. Keep up the good work. I will do my best to encourage not only the newbies but everyone to continue to make this site the best on the web! Thanks for responding to my post.

This is not true I have let my e-mails go for more than 5 days and I still recieve the daily e-mails. I was on vacation last month for a week and didn't get removed from the e-mail list. Check the rules on this and let me know who is right on this one.

I agree with you completely on this one, gizmo42. I also went on vacation in February for well over 5 days and never touched my e-mails. I simply came back and deleted all the expired ones until I got to the current day's. Maybe you and I were 'flukes' of the system, but I doubt it. ;)

Right now, you are automatically unsubscribed from the DCEs after 10-14 days in a row without receiving credit for one.  In the past that number has varied between 7 and 30 days.

We automatically unsubscribe after inactivity for a couple reasons: one, there's no point in sending the emails if you're not going to interact with them - they expire, after all.  It keeps our costs lower and email success rate higher to remove inactive subscribers.

We provide the "unsubscribe" option in case you are no longer interested in DCEs or if you know you wont be able to complete them for some time.

For the record, we also automatically unsubscribe you if you: click 'report spam', reply to the message with 'unsubscribe', or if your email address "bounces back".

All of that said, there is no extra penalty or drawback to being unsubscribed, and you are free to unsubscribe/resubscribe as often as you like or as often as is necessary.

With the new DCE system, you are usually sent your first DCE immediately when you subscribe, so it's not such a big deal if you have to resubscribe.

I am just speaking generally about the DCE and how it works on our end.  What I've described may not line up exactly with your experience because the policies were slightly different back when we used AWeber to send the DCEs.  Since about a week ago we've been sending them ourselves.

Thanks for the update on timing!  Will keep that thought in my memory banks for future reference.

Like the new format -- very eyecatching imho.

Thank you for responding to my original query about the unsubscribe option in the DCEs. I see that the time frame before we are automatically unsubscribed is a little more narrow (10-14 days) than it was before. I assume that's because FC is able to monitor things a little more closely now that you are sending out the new DCEs yourselves.

Aslo, thanks for the reassurance that there is no penalty or drawback from unsubscribing. I certainly don't want to do anything to jeopardize my membership, so I wanted to check with FC about that before I ever used that option. I see now that it is no big deal either way.

I was really asking for clarification and I got it. I look forward to a long and lasting relationship with the FC members and with the staff as well. Thanks again, Administrator.
