Do you think prayers are powerful?

no, I've tried to pray over many things before.. && it never worked.. so I gave up.
&& I'm happier now that I'm not sitting around waiting for something to happen.

The topic is a question that simply asks if one thinks prayers are powerful.  The topic never said anything about anyone having to prove prayer exists, prove prayer works, etc.

If they're looking for a simple yes or no, the OP shouldn't have posted it in debate and discuss.

Then, aside from simple emotional speculation, they are not powerful or real.

It's also pratically impossible to show "something" to a blind person but that doesn't mean that the "something" doesn't exist...

You have 4 other senses to easily prove it does exist. This is the same thing as the wind example but it's just reworded.

Those that have that "something" in their lives have something that noone on this earth can ever take away.  Those that pray to Jesus KNOWS He answers prayer and we KNOW the power of prayer.  We KNOW that our God LIVES...and we're sorry if yours doesn't.

Explain to me how this is different from saying "I have magical telepathic powers that you do not posess." and why you put pity on those for something you can't prove but we can rationally prove is completely false.

I'm assuming you mean that praying is powerful.... And, as I asked in the past, they'll say "it's not my job to prove it-- you just have to learn to have a personal relationship with jesus/god and then you'll see the magic!" which is a total cop-out and running away from the argument....

  I still believe in the power of prayers and say my prayers each night to thank the Good Lord for everything, because I am thankful for everything that I am able to do and have at this time since before I went through some really "rough" times, it was prayers that got me through those rough times and still enabling me to cope  with all that I have to deal with these days.

Prayer is very powerful. But you will have to have faith in it. I try to say thanx 2 God everyday. We are not promise 2 tomorrow, Not even 2day. I feel that God is not happy with the thing we are doing. We can putting people to death, when thatis not are place. That person will have to deal with the Lord in the end. What make you so better to put a date on someone else life.

Personally I'm convinced that prayer is powerful.  It's a good way to focus positive energy on a situation.  i also believe that you have to take action as well.  I'm not a chapter and verse person, but Matthew has a verse that says something like whatever you shall ask for, believing that you shall get it, you will receive.  Gregg Bradden talks about this in his book "The Lost Mode of Prayer."

You keep using the word telepathy. Do you think that when people pray, they imagine that they're talking silently to another human-like being? That's my only guess at the meaning of your jargon. I don't think of prayer that way at all. To me, God isn't some white-bearded, omnipresent entity that does actions to or for human beings. God starts within each person. Our conscience, our natural desire to help people in need... These instincts are what I think of when I pray. Do you ever feel these things? That's what I meant about ignorance. If you don't foster these feeling within yourself, that's a big part of your misunderstanding.

Yeah. That's what most of them do. A very basic example is praying at dinner.

Of course I do. I volunteer at places (mainly for animals) all the time. Difference here is I don't need to wish things towards people in privacy because it's pretty much pointless.

Doing > privately wishing good/wishing for emotional strength.
