I was using PlentyOfFish about a year ago and I found someone even though it was cut short because she had to move away. I haven't been on any dating site since then. I'm not lookin to date anyone at the moment. I'm gonna enjoy being single a while longer :)

I am afraid of those sites.  I guess I have come to the point where I do no trust people easily.

I believe that you should never say never.  I would never use one of those sites.

I haven't tried any dating sites but I've thought about it. I'm a little afraid to use them to be honest. But I might try one in the next few years.

Whatever happened to dating the old fashioned way. Go up to the person you like and ask them out. If they say no, then move on and find someone else. That's what seems best instead of staring at someone's picture online and then meeting them. What if they turn out to be a total weirdo? At least with someone you already know it's cool. You can hang out and then decide if you like the person or not. There are too many creepy people hanging around online. I'm sorry but that's just how I feel. It's such a shame that creeps use the internet to do bad things to people.

Plenty of Fish and OKCupid are some good sites, and they're free (not 100% sure about OK though). Craigslist sometimes follows through, but personally, I met the love of my life through a mutual acquaintance. It was one of those "aha, I'm glad I found you when I did" moments for the both of us, so I'd say the best place to meet someone is face-to-face.

With email and dating sites, you lose that first impression or the first interaction. I can definitely pick up on subtle emotions and facial/vocal changes without a lot of effort. But honestly, try being able to do that through email, text, or a posed profile picture. Not as easy. You lose intrinsic personable habits with dating sites. Not to say they're all bad and evil, but as a guy who likes face-to-face interaction, I prefer the meeting in person aspect of dating.

There are reasons that someone may want to use dating sites on the internet instead of meeting them in person...I myself have used dating sites and currently still am.
