so...assuming that time/transportation wasn't an issue, etc., how far would you travel to see one of your favorite artists??

  Not to be to blunt but art is a fine perofession. If anyone has to travel to see an artist one first has to put up the money. They you have to get the ticket the reservations, there are many travel sites to help you get a discount. Try and find a travel agent. Finally  let people you trust know where you are headed to be safe.
Keep it short and don't talk to strangers.  Get there know where you are going. leave a message at the desk for people to know where you are if you happen to meet the one person you do trust!!!
