I think clothes are starting to have a direct impact from our 'stereotypes'.

Are a thug? Well, have to look like it. How about a punk/emo, rocker? Well, get the clothes but don't forget the makeup!

When they're young, they want to be somebody so bad and in today's society, clothes is half the battle. If you dress the part, you become it. Or you become a 'wannabe'. I suppose that's when you don't act the part.

It's all silly, but I used to be that way. I'm entering adult life (well, in college right now), but I used to be the same way. Allowing clothes to dictate who I was.

Now, I use clothes as a fun thing of fashion. I like to explore different styles and see what looks good to me and what I'd prefer. I dislike dressing a particular way to be a particular stereotype. If anything, that limits your fashion choices. And it's not unique. At all. There's only a million 'goths' and a hundred million 'thugs'.

I wonder what it would be like if everyone just decided to dress however they wanted without worrying about what their peers thought of them? Hm. That world wouldn't exist in our society. Media is far too powerful!

I have a problem finding shorts that cover my little girl's rearend (she is 7).  Most of the shorts in the store are too short.  Also don't like the shorts with words across the butt.

I think most clothes are too tight today. I hate seeing overweight people in clothes 3 sizes too small trying to look sexy or in the popular trend. Also, most clothes are too revealing. Sure if you look good, be proud of that, but there is no reason to flaunt everything. Some of the fads like pants sagging below your butt, all black "goth" look, and guys in pants tighter than mine need to fade out quickly. If that's your personal style then fine, but it shouldn't be a nation-wide trend for kids trying to look unique and cool. I think people need to dress appropriately and have more pride in the way they look. I am all for being comfortbaly, but do it with good taste.

I completely agree! Just because the 'goth' or sagging of the pants look is cool for some people, it's funny how it really does become an optional national style. AKA, a stereotype. The look usually follows a personality and I really don't understand that part. There's no need to try to match the attitude with the look. If anything, I thought it usually went the other way. But because it isn't, you have this 'wannabe' thing going on. Or that seems to be the case. It's silly. A silly teenage, kid kind of thing.

Really depends on where you live, around me in Denver, you got people with style ,then you have school girls that look like hookers and worse act like them too.
Embrace your inner beauty and keep your legs shut..
Oh I mean,, yea clothes they rock!!!

I think that the style of clothes is always going to be changing. I mean in the 70's, it was one style, then it changed in the 80's, and so on until present time. A lot of kids in school dress like that style today cause they wanna fit in, but if you ask me, I think that it all comes from the music they listen to, TV, and basicly just because they want to copy others.

The style of clothes gives a huge impact on how others will think of you. Like if you were a new kid at a new school, then depending how you dressed is gonna give others there an idea of who you are.
But watch, I say that in a couple of years, the style that a lot of people are into in school right now, is going to  change dramatically.
