Be honest and give them and yourself closer. It's the only way to move on. I divorced my Ex over 2 yrs. ago and he still doesn't get it. I've been honest with him but he's in denial...STILL!

I would say honesty and, depending on the situation (assuming no abuse or anything like that), doing it in person, rather than through text or phone message.

It's not going to be easy for either of the two people involved, but be honest and respectful of the other person. And I agree to do it in person not in a text or email or some other way.

I agree, but I also think telling them in public ( like a restaurant) is a good idea. They are less likely to freak out and make a scene.

Be honest with them, why are you breaking up with them.  Was it because someone else is showing more interest in you, or have they changed.  just try to be honest.

Yes, be honest with them because that is the most important thing. And also doing it face to face somewhere where it is just the two of you so it won't be any distractions.
