Dog person but owns only cats....
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:10:36 pm »
I wonder if it is possible to train cats to be more like a dog? It would be great if I can walk my cats instead having to deal with the litter box. If my cats can retrieve things now that would be cool. I wonder if there are wild cats that act more like dogs than cats. Any FC members with animal knowledge in this area your input is greatly appreciated.

We used to have a big old maine coon cat that would go to the door when it had to go potty.  He just would not use the litter box for anything but wanted to be put outside like a dog!  I have seen things that claim to help you teach your cat to use a toilet but I think that would be kind of creepy.

Wow, love maine coons they're the type of cat to have. Not the skinny, minny breeds. Wanting to be put out to go do his business is so cool. I dread cleaning the litter box. The going in the toilet trick sounds cool but, I don't like the thought of my cat using the toilet bowel much less flushing it. Thanks Revkeltina for you input. I think if i come up with some dog training skills to transfer over to the felines; I'm going to write a book about cats learning dog tricks. I'll call it,
Old Dog Tricks for Newbie Cats.

Is there a reason you can't get rid of the cats and get the dog you want? Or maybe have both?
