Gold Stars under member's icons
« on: March 18, 2011, 07:58:55 am »
Can anyone tell me what the gold stars under member's icons mean? All newbies like me show one star and I'm guessing all newbies receive that star just for joining, but when are we newbies raised to two, three, or more stars? Is this related to how many times a member has cashed out or is there some other measure that the staff uses to add stars to each member? Just curious and I could find no mention of this either in the rules or in the posts!

I don't really think it means anything. The people with more stars have posted more and the more posts you have the more your status (like newbie) goes up. I was just using it as a reference. When I ask a question, I would think the person with more stars would know a little more than a person with one.

I will venture a guess based on what I've seen:

Titlle---------------Stars---------------Posts

Newbie   -------------1-----------------1-49
Jr Member-------------2----------------50-99
Full Member-----------3---------------100-249
Srl Member------------4---------------250-499
Hero Member----------5---------------500-749
Elite Member----------6---------------750-999
Silver Member---------7--------------1000-1999?
Gold Member----------8--------------2000-?

Once you get into the posting routine, it's pretty easy to find things to talk about -- initially, it's what you have problems with and then it's responding to newer members letting them know what you've learned.

I thought 5 stars was the most. I didnt know it went up to 8. Does any1 have 8 stars???? Is the stars just based on your post or does it go off of posts and offers completed???

It's based only on post count, and we de-emphasize it because people tend to get competitive.  But there's nothing special about making 2000 crummy posts, even though you'd theoretically have a bunch of stars.  What's more important is the content of your posts.  For example, just look at swogden's nice blue star.  They got it for making quality posts, not numerous posts.  That's what you guys should compete for (it also includes a cash bonus).  But how do you compete?  That's the rub - you just have to make quality, reliable, helpful, informative posts day in day out until an administrator notices :)

Thank you for weighing in on my question, Administrator. I had been hoping that someone on the staff would comment on this post. I have found that the more I post, the better I get. I don't know how it is for the rest of you, but that's how it's been for me. In fact, I've become downright chatty of late! Also, just so you all know, I'm a rather selective person when it comes to choosing my friends and (except for one or two inappropriate posts in the recent posts section) I have felt a camaraderie on FusionCash that I have not seen on any other website and consider all of the members and staff who have been so kind as to respond to my comments as my newfound friends. You've all been helpful, gentle, inquisitive and filled with a positive energy that I can only describe as contagious! Thank all of you, including the staff of course, for your wonderful suggestions and feedback.

P.S. To the Administrator: well, now that I know about that little blue star, I'm going to have to take a little more time polishing and modifying each post I make. I am wishing upon a star!

How do you get the blue star. I think that the star ideas are great bc people are competitive and it helps people want to post and get into posting. Not just these little alright or ok one word posts. I dont think those count towards the 30 posts.

It does carry a certain amount of weight for hanging around long enough to do it.

Hey oldbuddy,

Why don't you have a blue star under your name as a helpful contributor? You were given special permission to do the four Tutorials and are a Gold Member who always makes great contributory posts like the April Fool's Day catch about Kohler selling Fusioncash (LOL). If it were up to be, I would have given you that Blue Star many moons ago. Members: I would like to start a grass-roots movement to push for oldbuddy to get that Blue Star already! If anyone deserves it, he certainly does!!!! What say you, members? Please weigh in on this! Are you with me?  :angel12: :angel12: :angel11: :angel11:     :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Thanks guys, but I am very satisfied with my rewards for posting here. I have made a lot more than the $3 a month that's obviously added up significantly. I'm in it for the cash and just as happy without the blue stars.

I try to really as much as I can to contribute to the ohter's questions, and event hough I had notice the star's I did not know how you got them, but thank you for the clarification.  Now I vote for oldbuddy to get his Blue Star I also think he deserve it.

Administrator, can you clarify about the helpful Contributor Star, what do you consider Helpful and what it is involved? so whoevee wants to try to compete for it will have an idea.  Like oldbuddy I have seen a feww other members being very Helpful to the new members and I do not think they have that Blue star either.

Just so we know what you are looking for and thank you for all the effort.
