I live alone (by choice) marieelissa.  I'm in an out so much a pet would be neglected.  Also, when I travel, would have to find someone to care for said pet.  My home is nice for entertaining, but just a place to really lie my head, clean up and eat.

I like having my space, and the freedom to come and go.  If I want to stay up all night and study or something, I do it without offending anyone else.  How else can I plan a trip to a foreign country for 3-6 months at a time?  A husband would not put up with that.  Next thing ya know, his laundry and stuff has to take priority. I like being single, and independent.

I'm not scared to live alone but I prefer not to. I need "someone" around even if it's just a pet. Outside of my family and the few close friends that I have I have a tendency to be antisocial so it's really kind of funny that I would want someone around all the time. :)

What I mean by a tendency to be antisocial is that while I can be friendly and outgoing if given the choice between a crowded breakroom of people that I'm only acquainted with vs an empty room and a novel I'm going to take the empty room with the novel every time!

To live alone would be okay for maybe couple of days.
But after that, it gets too quiet, and I prefer living with someone/roommate.
And I would have kitties and doggies and hamsters.

I have never had the chance to live alone.  Sometimes I think it would be nice.
Have a wonderful day!

I have live alone, now I have a dog,but I was not afraid to live alone, she just stole my heart. As long as you take certain precautions, you should be fine.

So is having a pet not living alone?

I can live alone but that can be very lonely. My daughter is definitely afraid to live by herself I don't why she's like that.

No, but a pet makes a great companion.  Also when you hear a noise in the night, you can always tell yourself it is the cat!

I live alone and often refer to my house as "the fortress of solitude". I do have a couple of dogs. My work schedule is such that it's hell on having a social life. Working nights wed-sat 12 hour shifts, really isn't conducive to meeting anyone special and that's ok. I've gotten so used to it that to add another person would just disrupt everything. I know I'm weird.

I lived alone for 12 years of my adult life, and I always had at least one cat to welcome me home. Now I have a husband, whom I vastly prefer to cats.

It's quite fun if you have friends that like to hang out randomly. My old place was practically treated like Seinfeld's apartment. But I notice a trend nowadays where people tend to live at home for a long while and then move out once they decide to get married or move in with a significant other. Ain't nothin' wrong with that considering it's quite practical on a worldly scale.

I'm not scared to live alone, but it would be nice to have someone "special" there.
