Money saved with coupons
« on: March 05, 2011, 11:29:36 am »
Do you keep track of how much money you save by using discounts and coupons?  I save a lot, but have never kept a record.  I recently came across someone who had an elaborate excel workpage so you could list what you spent and how much you saved at various stores.  I decided to do one myself, just to see how much I spent on groceries, etc. and how much I saved by the end of the year.  I am not anxious to see how much I have spent, but I am intrested in seeing how much I have saved.

That's a good idea. I haven't done anything like that, mostly I look at how much I saved on a weekly basis rather than on a yearly basis but it would be interesting to find out. I'm even more interested in starting to get "more extreme" and be able to get a month's worth of groceries for $100. :)

I'm getting a lifetime worth of groceries for $200 instead. and since Fusioncash supplied the $200 I guess you could say they are free.

I use coupons but do not keep track of exactly how much I save.

I do however keep a spread sheet of my expenses and have for three years. I have a rental property then pay a few things at my house so my list is rather lengthy - Mortgage, HOA, Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Gas, Electric, Internet, 2 Credit Cards, Student Loan, Auto/Condo Insurance, Cell and Water/Trash.

I just started using coupons myself. For some reason I think I'll start documenting what I spend but then somewhere down the line that project will be unfinished so by the end of the year I won't even know what I saved or how much I spent. I know myself so I won't even bother keeping a record.

I do use coupons when I find some that are for products I buy ... which is hard to do is seems.  I have never really kept track tough.  I know I save a HUGE amount on clothes by using coupons at Macy's .... I get really nice clothes that retail for up to $100 for $3 to $10 using the coupons and shopping the clearance racks.  I normally get new NICE clothes cheaper than I could have bought used clothes at Goodwill!!!!
