Do you need some noise when you are sleeping?
« on: March 03, 2011, 07:52:09 am »
I usually like to have it quiet, but I have had a humidifier in my bedroom for a couple of months and seem to like the noise.  I hope I can go back to the quiet when I turn it off for the summer.  I have an adult daughter that has to have the noise of a fan going in their bedroom every night.  Quite a few years ago, I bought her a noise machine, and she takes that on vacation all the time.

I'm like you...In the fall when I retire my fan it takes me a while to get to sleep cause I'm so use to the humming sound.

I'm an odd one I guess. Sometimes I absolutely can't fall asleep unless I have the background noise of the TV on, sometimes the sound is so distracting, I sit up like a mad woman to get the remote to turn it off. Am I nuts?

I got into the habit of running a fan because of someone else and I'm also a light sleeper.  I did that for about 20 years.  I live in a very quiet neighborhood now, and when the fan started chirping, I decided to stop once and for all.  Saves on the power bill too.

It's dark and quiet when I'm going to bed. This is what I usually do but I don't have any problem going to sleep listening to sounds from a fan or my TV.

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. When it's cold, I have a small heater running in my bedroom and I get used to the noise that at times it's weird when I'm not using it. I also have a ceiling fan that makes a little bit of noise. My heater also doubles as a normal fan, so when it's really hot I have it on and the noise doesn't bother me. I guess most of the time it just depends. But if I'm sleeping in the same room as someone who snores really loud, I have to have something to help drowned it out, or I usually just smash a pillow over my head.

I can't get a good night sleep well unless it's totally dark and quiet.

I do not like any noise when i am trying to fall asleep. I do like to hear rain though. I don't know how anyone can sleep with the television on.

I sleep well with a fan or air conditioner on but any other noise keeps me awake.

i like it dark and quiet - i don't mind the TV
on but the sound has to be turned down pretty
low. my fiance CANNOT sleep without the TV
on, and when we first started living together
years ago, it drove me crazy...

i'm pretty used to it now, and sometimes i find
myself turning on the TV if i go to bed before
he does  :P  honestly though, i could sleep through
a dang tornado...
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

I usually sleep with the TV on. But for me it's not so much about the noise as it is the light. I've always slept better during the day, I like the light from the TV or a lamp.
