I save money by buying in bulk at Sam's Club.  I would like to know what other ways I can save money.

If I am driving around all day I get a large soda at a fast food retaurant and fill it up throughout the day at different locations, I share rental movies with neighbors-one week I buy and the next week they buy, I recycle aluminum cans and pick them up when I see them lying around, I try to shower at the gym 1st thing in the morning so that I am not using the water and soap from home, I try and walk the kids to school rather than relying on my car and the extra gas expense that goes with it.

I like to buy some of my meat in the bulk packages like hamburger. I get the 5lb package and divide it up into baggies for the freezer. *Tip* When you put the hamburger meat in the baggie, smush it flat so that it spreads across the bag. This will 1) push out any extra air; 2) make it easier to store in the freezer; and 3) makes it thaw out faster. We don't have cable or satellite TV so I watch shows on Hulu or Netflix. I shop at Goodwill and Half Price bookstores which has tons of movies and books for, well, half price!

To safe money I a chain hang from one side of the room where I hang all the clothes to dry. (safes lot)  All electric things on surge protectors with light so you can see when one is on, even the microwave.

I use coupons like crazy.  I watch the sales in Walmart, Walgreens, Dollar General and shop at Dollar Tree.  When something is on sale and I have coupons for it I buy several.  I shop Walgreens couple times a week due to such good sales they have.  When we go some where that is going to be more than an hour we bring a small cooler with water and cokes.  I usually on shop monthly for main grocery shopping and purchase most of meats from Schwans that delivers directly to my door.  We got rid of home land line phone and kept just internet line and are now using Magicjack for $20 a year.  Actually an offer I got from here.  Works great.  We also got rid of our cable use just over air for local news but watch everything we want on the internet for free.  Its all there all the programs on tv free just have see it the next day.  I can do that to save $60+ a month.  We have saved around $150 a month just getting rid of land line phone and cable.  We also have made a budge plan and write down everything we spend so we know where to improve or add.  We are saving so much and doing better  getting a budget together.

I pay myself an "allowance" out of my paycheck to use as "mad money".  Having that I find I binge spend much less.  I also setup an auto-transfer to my savings out of each paycheck.

Then I setup a budget based on the remaining money.  In the past, as circumstances improved - I got a raise or a promotion, got extra money (like fusioncash or surveys) - if it was steady income, I looked at increasing what I put into savings with the auto-transfer, yet allowed a little more in my "remaining" budget.  If it was temporary - most of the time I put it straight to savings unless I had something to pay off at the time.

I found this method "hid" the money from me by putting it into savings - so I'd be less tempted to spend it all for no reason.  Plus having my "mad money" available - I found less temptation to want to spend it all the time - sometimes I'd go a whole month hardly spending any of it.  Funny how we work sometimes - if you don't have cash, you want to spend it all.  When you do have cash in hand, suddenly, you don't really feel like spending anymore.

I save money every month by paying off my credit cards each month.  I use a Costco Amex and every February they mail me a check and the size depends on how much I have used my Credit card.  I just cashed my check last week...

I live in a state that offers no deposit on cans, so we will recycle the cans for some extra money. We also recycle the scrap and take that to the scrap yards for extra money also. Instead of buying trash bags at the store, when we shop at the store. We will use the bags we get from the store for trash and that saves on money as well.

Plan shopping trips. Not only on what you are going to buy, where you are going to buy it but also the path you are going to take. This saves time and money. Coupons are great. I am a single person, so you don't have to by in bulk to save. Did you know that most grocery ads rotate about every 6 weeks for staples, so when stocking up, get enough for 2 months. Do you know what a catalina is? When you by some things in muti containers (ie: 10 cans of soup) when the grocery clerk hands you your sales receipt, they will often hand you other pieces of paper. Sometimes these are coupons BUT sometimes they are thank yous from the manufacturer in the form of money off your next grocery trip. That can be spent 10 minutes later if you want, just exit the store (put your groceries in the car) and go back and get that thing you just realized you forgot (don't we all).

Coupons, coupons, coupons.  There are great coupons on the internet.   I keep any mail that only has printing on one side of the paper.  I use that paper for printing off coupons.  I also use the plastic bags from the grocery store for my trash bags.  If they have a hole in them, they go into the waste baskets.  I stretch my coffee by making a pot one day.  The next day I add a few more coffee grounds and make another pot.  Combine your shopping trips so you don't go long distances every day.  If you work, stop on your way home, if possible.  Target has a program where you use their card and get 5% off your total bill.  My last visit to SuperTarget, I spent $100, but saved over $50 between coupons and their 5% off.  You can find Target coupons on the internet - then combine them with manufacturing coupons to get more savings.  You do have to pay it in full each month though as the interest rates are high.  If you are able, pay off every credit card in full each month.
