Professional Photographer.

Anyone have a professional photographer at their wedding? If so, how much did it cost? I am trying to figure out a rough estimate of how much it is going to cost to get married so I can start saving.

i was looking at one photographers page. they want 325 for a cd with every pic they took and 70 for a brag book. it doesnt say session fee thou.
looks like this might be the most expensive part of the wedding.

From what I've seen, and heard (I am looking at having a career in photography.) A photographer could cost a good bit. I know that I've been looking at websites and a lot of photographers charge 1000.

Mine cost 2250 for 2 200-300 print books, a custom 12x12 collage style book, and released rights on a cd with all of the prints. There were multiple package options that ranged from 1500-3000 depending on if you want bridal portraits, number of albums, other mounted pictures, etc. I know this guy charges more because he releases all of the rights to you.

Definitely get a professional.  My daughter hired her niece, who had been in photography school.  She and a friend took pictures of the wedding, and they were terrible.  It didn't pay to save a few bucks.

She is very nice and customizes the price to what you need and want which was great. And I am sure she be willing to sell me more items if we have the extra money. we even get a free engagment session orginally $35 I never thought it would be this easy to find what I was looking for.

Mine was 700 plus I had to buy the pictures.  He's semi-professional but I also told him I only wanted pics at the wedding and no engagement shots or photo books.

No matter what you do, gaurentee in WRITING that you maintain the rights to all photo's that you as the individual can use them in any way shape or form that you so desire and that you want all digital copies.

Don't pay for their overpriced books. You can go on shutterfly with the copies and make a very nice book without their fees.

Also, maintain in writing certain shots you want. Look at other peoples wedding pictures and stage them out. Ask them before booking how they normally do a wedding, what their timelines are. A good wedding photographer has a complete timeline setup of how each and every moment should be.

12:00 bride getting dressed
12:10 bride and mom
12:12 bride and mom and bridesmaids
12:15 bride with veil
so on,...

Are they going to use a 2nd shooter? If so do you get all of their digital prints?
talk with them, set up how YOU want it to be, and let them give you ideas.

btw... i shoot weddings on the side. For 4 hours I charge 600 and they get all digital originals and digital proofs. I don't do prints because honestly you get overcharged there. Also you may find a photobook that's gorgeous, you should have for your day what you want not some prebought crap that I find at Michaels or something.
