Buying penny stocks
« on: February 19, 2011, 01:39:11 pm »
Does anyone know of a good online broker to buy penny stocks? Has anyone been successful doing this? I've heard a lot about penny stocks, and seen a lot of recommendations for what to buy, but I haven't seen anything about where to buy them.

My ex bf got me into penny stocks a few years ago.  I opened an account with Scottrade and bought a couple.  I still have the account but haven't done anything with the stocks or bought any more.  I prefer mutual funds myself it's a lot easier than researching individual stocks.

look into a site called options house. they have a low trading rate (they usually charge more to trade penny stocks). I am probably gonna use that broker once i get the ball rolling on my stock trading. also if you are feel hesitant on which stocks to pick, try using a stock market simulator called wall street survivor. I am currently using that to follow a stock that is doing pretty good right now.

I get a lot of emails with recommendations for penny stocks, so Ill probably use some of those for guidelines. I figured I'll just start small and see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestions for online brokers. I'll check into those.

I have been wanting to invest in those for years. Just never have. The golden arches ( Mc D's) Corp for one was a penny stock that many became quite wealthy on. I believe the starting purchase was 099 per share. I would be interested also on any good broker info.

I have never gotten in to buying stocks but i would like to try it out.  I have heard that there are practice sites that a person can go to and use pretend money to see how it works.  If you find any of these sites let me know.  Good Luck.

The best thing to do is go to the library and read books about investing.  Morningstar.com is also a good place to get information.

A couple of years ago, I did quite well with penny stocks.  I was making an extra $500 a month after taxes.  I could not complain.  Now I buy and hold and try to sell.  Best of luck to you all.

Don't do it.  The swings are crazy throughout the day, and you are basing your decision (usually) off of hope or seeing trends.  Good luck to you though!

I always wanted to buy some stock, but currently not thinking of investing in anything until I have some extra cash since I just put a down payment on a place.
