ID/Account thieves which hijack email accounts
« on: February 16, 2011, 04:56:52 pm »
My daughter was just recently prey to this one. The Hijacker somehow gets a hold of your account, in this case it was Yahoo. They somehow Hijack the account and address book and then they send email back to the addresses in the address book with a Link in the narrative of the email. I suggest you do not OPEN THE LINK, luckily I attempted but, my virusscan blocked it. It looks like a legitimate email from someone you know, In my daughter's case it did not have a subject, a matter of fact is said "no subject" in the subject line, who knows what would have happened if I continued to open the link. The hijacker's are getting more and more sofisticated in their attempts. My daughter called up Yahoo and told them to shut down the email account but, I still seem to be getting the emails. Take care out there and be careful what sites you go to!!!

Thank you.  Anyway we can protect ourselves online is worth the effort.  Cyberspace isn't as "secure" as people think.  the technology is growing faster than the protective agencies can keep up with.  We don't have enough security people watching our back as we think we do.  I know there is something very wrong with buying anything from K Mart or Sears online.  I've heard so many people say they bought one thing online at either of these websites, and had their debit card information jacked right after. It's not everybody, but enough people to cause alarm.

Just because the website says they are secure, doesn't always mean they are.  I've never had any problem with paying with Paypal, and I've been with them for many years.
