While Christians are to obey the laws of the land, If man made laws that were contrary to what God made, then it would be a problem. However, if man made a law say.....that Christ cannot be worshipped any more, that law would be broken by any Christian worth their salt. It goes against God's law.
I find it puzzling when people come up with excuses why they are not Christians or why they don't serve God. The fact that it's a personal choice is everything. If you chose to serve God, it's because you love Him and chose to follow Him....no matter what, or no matter who. Not because so and so does, or doesn't. If you let anyone dictate your walk with God, then you really haven't chose to follow God at all, but to let man dictate your choices for spirituality.
There will be many excuses given on Judgment why someone did not follow the Lord, but there will be no excuse that will hold water on that day. Every person will answer for themselves, and the dictates of their own hearts and choices they made on earth. Pointing to anybody and saying because of who, what, when, how, is not going to cut it. "But Lord....your so called Christians were hypocritical so I would not serve you", won't stand. Everyone will have to give account for themselves, and if they did or did not choose to serve Him no matter what.
If you really have your eyes on the Lord, nothing will deter you....nothing! If you put your trust in man, then you have put it in someone who can fail. God never fails. no matter what is going on around you. Our eyes must be on God, not the failure of man, or actions contrary thereof.
Romans 8:35-39
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
If you chose not to serve Him....that is your choice, but to blame someone else, or something else, is not going to fly come Judgement.
