Yeah I'm starting to think that if I am going to be in labor for a long time that I might consider asking for the epidural.  Needles still scare me though.  :BangHead:

Same here. You don't actually SEE the needle though which helps lol.

Epidural for sure. I'm no saint and I knew it was going to hurt, so why make it worse for myself?

I had eight children all natural births, sure did hurt, but I'm over it now and love everyone of them. Breast fed them too until 2 years old.   :peace:

I had 5 of my 6 children ALL NATURAL and wouldn't have done it any other way. (the other one was born emergency c-section)

Personally, I think that using pain medicine is bad.  I have heard of too many bad experiences for both Mom and Baby, so why chance it?
Also, I think if more people had natural births the more they'd think twice about having another one!  I know a lot of teen Mom's that tell me "Wow, it didn't even hurt" then end up having kids again.  When they see someone go through birth natural, they have told me that if they had done that in the first place they would have stopped with one!  Whether this is true or not - who knows.  But it is something to think about :)

In the end, it is up to you and your doctor.  Just be safe and think things through.  I wish you all the best!!!

There is a downside to getting an epidural, eventhough when they did it, it was some GOOD SH#$!  They had alot of trouble getting it done, they had to do it 4 times before they got it right, and that was extremely painfull, not recommended if you have a low tolerance for
A NEEDLE GETTING JABBED IN YOUR SPINE 4 FREAKIN TIMES!!!!

....no, but seriously though, that was some good sh#%!!

I have had two children. The first one I was in labor a LONG time and the pain got so bad that I started holding my breath. They had to give me oxygen, then my husband made them give me pain meds. Although they didn't do the epi right I still felt everything. Plus it made my babie's heart rate drop and the had to put a monitor on her head. But in the end it all worked out..... I don't see how people have done it for thousands of years without anything. I don't think I ever could have made it through either with out meds.  :binkybaby:

I would prefer to be "knocked out", and just leave a pink or blue card.

I have never had a baby but my sisters tell me an epidural is the way to go. They say they help control the pain so much.
