I had 5 of my 6 children ALL NATURAL and wouldn't have done it any other way. (the other one was born emergency c-section)

Personally, I think that using pain medicine is bad.  I have heard of too many bad experiences for both Mom and Baby, so why chance it?
Also, I think if more people had natural births the more they'd think twice about having another one!  I know a lot of teen Mom's that tell me "Wow, it didn't even hurt" then end up having kids again.  When they see someone go through birth natural, they have told me that if they had done that in the first place they would have stopped with one!  Whether this is true or not - who knows.  But it is something to think about :)

In the end, it is up to you and your doctor.  Just be safe and think things through.  I wish you all the best!!!
I somewhat agree but then again I also somewhat disagree. In some cases getting It Is a good Idea. In my case, I went Into premature labor ( 25 Weeks ) and the doctors/nurses suggested It because I had a massive panic attack and It was causing my daughter distress.

I agree about teenagers though. My boyfriend and I talk about this quite often. Neither of us want our daughter to become a teen mom. I was 30 when I had her and I would want her to wait until she Is not only mature enough but able to care for a baby. Although, If that happened with her. Her father and I would support her BUT we would not step In and raise her child unless we absolutely had too.

I am all about natural birth.  I had my 7 year old at a birth center and it was amazing!!!!!!!!!! I had my set of twins in Greenville Hospital natural birth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to give you some advice on Birthing Center they are the way to go.  The setting is unbelievable.  It is like having a baby at home your own private room.  You have your choices to birth in bed or birthing tub.  The birth tub is relaxing and takes your mind off the pain.  Very relaxing and calming.  Look into.

i had a natural birth in my home. I used a midwife and gave birth in a birthing pool! It really wasn't so terrible at all. The BEST advice I can give anyone having a baby (no matter what way you're doing it) Don't tense up or breath fast. Breath slow and loosen your mouth!

Ive had 1 epidural  due to c-section and two natural births. Easier recovery with natural births and all it takes is concentration.

In my opinion, natural birth under water seems to be most beneficial for both mother and child. I have read a lot of positive experiences that I know this is the way to easily give birth peacefully. If I were to become pregnant, this is the option I would choose.  :peace:

It really depends on the mother, do whatever you think is best for you and your baby.  I tried to go natural with my daughter but ended up being induced before she was ready to come out which lead to 34 hrs of severe paid If I recall I made it about 10hrs before I caved and took the epidural.  Unfortunately she was very stubborn and wasn't ready to grace us with her presence yet and we ended up having a c-section by then the epidural had worn off so they gave me a spinal block before surgery which totally numbed me... my doctor said OK your going to feel some pressure now as they were pulling her out and I never felt a thing I realized it was over when I heard her crying about 2 seconds later.  We just recently found out were expecting again but this time its not up to me drugs or no drugs because we are the 1 in 80,000 chance of having triplets with no fertility treatments so I have no choice but to repeat c-section as my doctor says its too risky to try VBAC.  Good luck with your pregnancy and just remember that its your choice and don't let anyone make you feel guilty if you choose the epidural.  Every woman is built differently and some have easier natural labors than others.  It really surprises me how insensitive people can be, I even heard family talking about me having our daughter the easy way (c-section)  people that say that have obviously never recovered from one while caring for a newborn.

I've been trying for 3 years and I hope one day I will be asking myself this question. I would love to not have to get the needle (epidural) but it all depends on the situation! Good luck to you and enjoy every moment!

I had to have an epidural because I had my baby at 31 weeks by c-section. But I was hoping for a natural birth. Maybe next time!

epidural!! No way I'd try natural. I ended up with a c section so I wouldn't have had a choice anyway.

I had natural births with both of my children.  My oldest I had at a maternity center.  My second was at the hospital but I went through labor so fast that the nurses had to rush to set-up the delivery room.  The idea of me getting an epidural went out the window.  A few minutes in the delivery room and my son was born.

The pain really can be unbearable. I had a shot for the pain with my son and it was awful...it left me groggy and doped up. The epidural can be great because they can control how much med you get so you can still feel some pain but it isn't so intense that you can't focus on your joyous event! I felt more calm with the epidural. **If your husband gets woozy at the site of needles do NOT let him watch the epidural go in! My boyfriend almost fainted, and he's a real tough guy lol

I've had 5 children....all natural.  I wouldn't do it any other way.  It's better for the baby, easier recovery for the mom, it's also easier to bond with the baby.  Supposedly, epidurals block the hormones that mom produces when giving birth.  Those hormones help the mom and baby bond quicker.  I may not be correct in this knowledge, it is only what I've heard.  Natural was the way to go for me, however, I totally get why women choose epidurals, and that may be the best choice for that mother.  It's a very individual choice.
