If hell wasn't such a threat...
« on: December 11, 2010, 12:26:35 pm »
I am an agnostic. I can't tell and there could possibly be a God. I try to believe in the Christian God just incase it is real, cause I really don't want to burn in hell. In all honesty though, I am really just an agnostic that is scared of the idea of hell because I can't tell if God is real, any God exists or whatever.

And you? Be honest!!

Hi,
I believe that God is real.    Everything that is in The Bible is 100 percent true.  Heaven and eternal life are real.  We are all sinners and fall short.  One must accept Jesus and their Savior and ask for His forgiveness of their sins if they want to go to Heaven.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  He loved us so much that He died for us.

I also believe that Hell is a real and terrible place.  The Bible is very clear about that.

What about the Muslim god, marie?  You better believe in him, too, or you'll burn in hell forever just the same.

Faith should be about life here and now, not about heaven or hell, because the kingdom of God is here and now.  If faith does not affect how we live today because of how it affects us today, I would hardly call it authentic.

Marie you are too funny!  I always get a kick out of reading your posts.  I do believe in a higher power.  I believe in the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.  I have a problem with religions, in that they are and have been used to control people.  From my free will, I put my trust and love in the Father.  From my free will, I let go of fear because FEAR is False Expectations Appearing Real.  It is a tool of Satan which is used to blind us from our own power.

In my honest opinion if you are a good person you have nothing to fear. I am agnostic as well and If "God" is supposed to be good then he wouldn't condemn you if you are a good person. If "God" is the type of God to "punish" you even if you are a good person then that is not  a God I want anything to with any way!

Marie,  I believe in God through faith.  I also believe the Bible is God's Word and in studying the Bible, I learn more about the things of God and where we will spend eternity.  I don't understand a lot of why's and what's in there, but I understand that God's mind is higher than mine and there are things I apparently am not to know about or understand.  Maybe one day, He will answer a lot of questions that run through these threads and/or maybe the blinders will come off and we will automatically "see" and "know" what we didn't.  To summarize in one word about accepting God: faith.  I hope you can truly find peace and assurance in what you are looking for.

Because some ribwoman was deceived by a talking snake into eating a cursed fruit from a forbidden tree that god himself planted as a trap (being omniscient and all).  Said fruit magically reconfigured the atoms of Eve's brain so that suddenly she was aware of what was "bad".  God got pissed that Eve did this even though he set the whole thing up and knew she would do it, and decided it was fair to punish ALL of humanity (even generations not yet born), even though logically, she could not know eating from the tree was "wrong" (disobeying god) BEFORE she ate the knowledge of what was good and evil in the first place.

Yup, makes perfect sense.

But you WILL get to live forever, but only after you die of course!  There's no proof for this, but you can have FAITH that it will happen for the low, low price of sacrificing your only guaranteed life in worship of an invisible, inaudible, human-like god who will do nothing for you that is impossible in the natural world!

You can't just say, "He might be real, but I'm not sure." You have to believe. Also, if you want to go to heaven, you have to be baptized.
